Default Just received my 5pt. Have some *more* ?'s

Ok guys, just received my 5pt harness from soloracer.com .

I also ordered the 5 additional eye bolts, and snap in adapter thingys??

Here are some pics

Here lies my problem..the uhh snap adapter thingies I ordered don't look like they are wide enough for the belts.

This is of course based on my assumption that the snap adapters, replace the end fastners on the belt, is this correct? Do I need to order wider snap adapters..

Any help is greatly appreciated

Hmmm. I can't really tell if those are the 2" or 3" size from the pics.

When you do thread the belts thru the snap ins, the belt should be folded in on each edge. It makes it harder to 'tear'. You can see a picture of this on several sites. http://www.nasaproracing.com under rules, ccr has one. IIRC, Simpson's site, the SCCA site, and.....also have them. You also need to make sure to double back the belt on the slider. Make sure to use back up plates with the eyebolts. You should also install cotter pins in the snap's once they are installed on the eyebolts.

HTH.

added in edit: Did you get the hardware from Racers Wholesale? They also have instuctions, I think. Hopefully, you just didn't buy the eyebolts from the hardware store. They should be Grade 8 or better quality. I ask because all of the ones I have seen before have had the 'golden' finish on them.

I got the hardware from soloracer.com..They only show one type of snap adapter, so these must be the right ones.

http://soloracer.com/gforcesnaphook.html

So Im right in my assumption that the snap in adapters, replace the peace on the end of the harness?

also, the belt should be folded in? if so to what degree..

Fold 'em.

Good advice on the cotter pins. Never even considered it.

The eye-bolts you have may not be long enough for some of the mounting points with backing plates.
