Skunk 2 SOHC Manifold Install
OMG WHAT AN ORDEAL! Probably my fault though.
Ok here's a background check.
Motor: SOHC ZC, SOHC ZC Stock manifold and throttle body.
Taking off the old manifold was a pain because it was hard to access the bottom middle nut. Once we got that off, the manifold came right off. The SKunk2 is about an inch to two inches longer than the stock one, so fitting it was a little tricky. We had to angle it in because it was so long it got caught on a bump in the firewall, so we put it on the studs at an angle, then tightened the nuts down and it slowly put the Skunk 2 (S2 for future reference) manifold in place.
Now, this is the fucked up part. I thought the fuel rail and the throttle body from the A6 and the SOHC ZC were the same, but theyre not! The T-Body bolt holes dont all match up to the studs that are on the manifold, so i could only fit 2 nuts on it. Even then, i had to take a point file and make one of the T-Body holes bigger so that the T-Body would go on. As for the fuel rail, NONE of the holes line up with the holes on the S2 so for temporary use, i had to zip tie it down and check for leaks (I just needed it to work until i got home). One of the coolant hose clamps wouldnt go onto the hose and fitting because the manifold got in the way, so i had to put the hose on without the clamp (im gunna fix that later today, along with getting an A6 T-Body and fuel rail. Another problem, The S2 throttle cable bracket is a little too long and the throttle cable wouldnt reach, so i had to take the bracket off and flip it upside down for the cable to be in the right position. Stupid me, I had a power wire for my sub run into the battery right? But when we put the manifold on, it pinched that wire. So when i was on the way home, smoke just came pouring out. I popped the hood n found that the wire grounded itself against the manifold and fried itself (I thought my injectors leaked n blew up my motor...but luckily it wasnt that!). It was a headache to work around that **** with the limited parts we had but it turned out to be worth it. Driving it mildly the car is more rough because the manifold rests against the firewall, which causes all the engine vibration to vibrate the car. Power wise...holy crap! Throttle response is wayyy better, and from 4500 till 7 it pulls a lot harder than before.
In the end, it was a lot of hassle (thats because I had the SOHC ZC parts), but it was well worth it

nice work, good info,...I want pics!
I knew the ZC manifold was bigger then a6, I didn't know there were that many changes...good thing I have a spare a6 intake..if I ever go skunk2

thanks guys, i'll try n borrow my bros camera n take some pics, i jus dunno when i can take some. I forgot, I have an Injen Short ram, DC 4-2-1 header, cheap universal fart can muffler, and an Exedy stage 2 organic clutch. Before the manifold it had decent midrange and a good top end, but now after the manifold, the mid and top end are GREAT! I can tell that when i get my cam and some porting, and also port match the T-Body, it'll give me some nice numbers on the dyno. Basically, when you put it on, the biggest HP restrictor is the Cam, i can tell the motor wants to pull well beyond redline, but the cam and the ECU is holding back (btw im using the stock 90 Si ecu).
the instructions tell you that you will need 92+ rail and throttle body
I m in the middle of installing the motor so i had the manifold bolted onto the motor already and it was a bitch getting the motor into the car as it was getting stuck on the back of the firewall!!!!!!!!!
scared up my fresh paint
ill post some pics up too

Oh really? 92+ huh? I didnt know that (bought my manifold used). Ok, im lucky i didnt pick up my old A6 rail n Tbody. I just took an RSX (non type S) by 3 car lengths and pulling...god i love this manifold! You shoulda seen the look on the guys face when i told him it was a single cam

soo wait....would the sk2 manifold fit a ls throttle body?? and if i change my a6 manifold to a y8 or z6 do i need to change the fuel rail too?? because im thinkin of a z6 or y8 manifold wit a ls t/b convertion.,..is that possible?? all help appreciated
