Prediction: R1 is going to be the bike to beat this time around
No surprise, all the man. are coming out with new liter bikes this year. I have been checking them all out, and IMHO I think the R1 is going to be the one all the magazines crap their pants over and declare #1 in the class. 180HP, 379lbs JESUS!
Anyone heard what Suzuki is doing? I think the 1000 is staying the same?
If I were buying one, I would get the honda, of course. I am still diggin my 600RR though.

Does it really matter? They're all fast enough to get you killed quick.
But I am wondering about the new ZX-10R..

Yea they all look good and all will perform above better then 98% of the people riding them. The zx-10 is interesting. Its been a while since Honda has been on top of the liter bike category. It WILL be interesting.
I wouldn't buy anything but a Honda. I am actually thinking about the new RR coming out. BUT, as far as the magazines are concerned I think Yamaha will take the trump, not meaning I or any of us most likey would tell the difference between any of them.

I think kyle is right, the magazines will pick yamaha as the king, but I'm excited to see the new CBR1RR.
Either way, The competition is going to be great next year. It's always great competition but its looks like everyone is trying to step up to suzuki's power level.

Hahaha...that's the best line I heard a while. All this talk about which bike is bigger, badder, best...
I'll stick to 600s and cruise empty roads on the country side.
I got nothing to prove.

180 at the crank...lets see what it actually dynos. I've seen the new gixxer1's put 150-155 and a 160 freak one.
What piques my interest this year about the liter bikes is 2 of them have the undertail exhausts and two of them don't. The CBR and the R1 make the other two look kind of dated with that exhaust cannister sticking out.
Yea they are both kinda ugly looking though. But once the aftermaket gets going that will be taken care of. Just like the 600RR, kinda not good looking with the stock pipe and plate holder. But they look GREAT with aftermarket stuff on them.
I predict the R1 and CBR1K will not have as much HP as the GSXR 1K and the ZX-10 will be about the same and the Gixxer. 180 HP is a dream even at the crank when the busa and zx-12 are only getting 175 at the crank. And running the pipe under the tail section may look cool but it restrictions the flow with unnessary bends and thats not a good thing. And dry weights claimed by manufactures have been a big joke for a long time.
you guys must realize that the 180bhp is at the crank, and that they did infact raise their redline to 13500. they also might have put in some aggressive cams that lets them get more "peak hp" but will most likely lose some of its low end, which is not a sacrifice i as a street biker would really want. i think some of you are underestimating honda as well. inverted forks, electric speed sensing steering damper, radial front mounted brakes, unit pro-link suspension, dual stage injector pgm efi... it's gonna be a beast of a bike. the new kawasaki also supposedly threw down 162 rwhp. it's gonna be a pretty beasty bike too. the new yamaha will also be no joke, but thats always been the same realistically for all these bikes. just get the bike that you think you love the most because no matter what you wont be unsatisfied.
Boys and girls... there's more to streetbike's than peak hp numbers... magazines pick suzuki's as king because they turn out the best lap times and have the most horsepower. Don't forget, 95% of us ride on the street ALL THE TIME and not on the track. Get what you like, not what gets you from 0-100 in 8.1 vs 8.02
prediction: the suzuki, honda, yamaha, and kawasaki will be so close they'll be pretty much dead even, and only people's personal bias/preference will separate them.

when it comes down to it, this is most likely to happen. 99% of the time on the street or on the track it's the rider that makes a bike faster not a few more hp. i highly doubt anyone here can ride ANY of these bikes to their full potential unless your name is mladin or something.

I have always been a suzuki guy and I say regardless of the HP the yamaha makes the aerodynamics on the gsxr 1000 will tear the r1 a new *** in a straightline. yamaha is notorius for building beach bikes. suzuki always run more top end.
