Default Hatch Not Closing

The other day at a track event, I took out the spare tire and jack for the first time and when I tried to close the hatch, the latch was not catching. After trying several times, I noticed the passenger door was still open, so I hit the power lock and closed the door. The hatch then latched when I closed it. Now I'm not sure if it wasn't latching because the jack was removed (taking away some force on the rear end) or because the passenger door being open loosened the frame somehow not allowing the hatch to line up? The car has never been in an accident, so no body/frame out of wack should have caused anything.

Anybody else experience this?

Try opening the hatch, and then playing with the power locks, lock and unlock a couple times then try sliding the release to the side a couple times maybe and then close it. I've had that before, generally playing around with the locks/release helps.

yup, and its annoying as hell. At first I thought it was the latch on the lower trunk, but it turned out to be the latch sticking on the hatch lid. So Ive just gotten into the habit of making sure its not stuck before I try to close it.

Yeah, 1st thing I did was fiddle with the release handle, then checked the bottom latch (which I couldn't do anything about since I couldn't fit my finger in there). When that didn't work, I noticed the passenger door was open. I didn't think the power lock had anything to do with it since I've been able to close it in the past with the doors unlocked. But I was going to lock everything up anyway to leave the car so I locked it when I closed the door.
