Default 2.0 DC2 Dyno results

Just finished my build around a month ago and took my GSR to Houston last week to have a Hondata added and dyno tune it. Graph is attached. I am really dissapointed with the all motor numbers, I was hoping for 200+ hp and 150+tq. We were planning on doing some more dyno time this weekend and playing with the ignition and timing maps with the hondata but i got spray happy this past weekend and tore **** up. The fully built motor loved the botttle though. The plots show it N/A then with 150 shot, then a 200 shot. Im pulling the head this weekend because Im pretty sure I burnt the piston rings or possibly bent valves in the #1 chamber. No more nitrous, Im somewhat determined to get it how i want it N/A and Im also tempted to drop the compression and boost it. Im listing the major mods to the motor below, a full descrip may come later. Any constructive input on the n/a numbers would be appreciated. It just seemed to fall off at 7-7500k when i wanna take it to 9500rpm. Dropped when it went further. Wideband 02 used to tune as well of course, numbers were adjusted appropriately. Jason at Autologic did the tuning. Powerband was able to be smoothed out alot compared to before. But damn it was weak, whats goin on here guys. Compression numbers were 260-270 across the board and leakdown numbers were cyl1, 29, cyl2, 30, cyl3, 18, cyl4, 33. Trash talkers SHattup, Im already pissed enough. Just wanted to share. Later

I'd be a little disappointed with the numbers as well. The NA number seems low, is that after the bottle? ie- after damage was done? The motor should be really strong, but on the bottle it's a killer... close to 300whp, not bad- though I am diametrically opposed to FI

i think you had a problem before the tuning. get those parts replaced and break it in properly, and 200/150 all motor is possible

haha I'm still giggling like a little school boy about the spike in Horsepower when you hit the funny button. That's impressive, must be one hell of a ride... Just imagine if it was completely tuned making 200+ horsepower BEFORE you run the nitrous, 350? 400? Can't wait to see it done perfect!

very low # s on the N/A set up . you should at least had over 200whp .
also i thought 12.1CR was to high to even run nitrous ???

Motor could be choked, too. He didn`t mention what his header/exg setup was.

My thoughts also.

This could be the problem too:
Stage 3 port and polished head.

An inexperience head porter can create inefficiency. Especially if the ports are opened too much.

nah, we just had a 1.8l with cp pistons, ef-1 m22s, head work and itr intake manifold hit 198whp with mild tuning. he had dc header, carsound cat and apexi ws exhaust.
if a 1.8 can make that much with that header, im sure a built 2.0 can make that much

i bet there is something wrong with this guys setup. i havent really heard of polk, did you call them and tell them a stock itr motor with the same header and hondata would make more power?

I agree, but even with those bottlenecks, he should be well over 160.

i've got a friend that just layed down money to get his engine built for Nitrous too

but i really hope he puts down more than that...

i mean, on bottle...it looks good for the 150 shot...but the 200 is a little low...and the n/a is horribly low...

Im thinking this the tuner compisated to much timing for the Nitrous! What we do with a nitrous car on hondata etc. We tune the car at is peak potenial using the Hondata or what ever fuel managment first. Then we use a msd digital 6 plus wired to the nitrous silinoid, once the nitrous silinoid is enganed then the digital 6 plus will automaticaly retard the timing this way you will get no loss of timing in your N/A form. If you have any more question feel free to give me a PM or a call.
Good Luck

there's my setup from last year to compare fairly similar.

370 injectors on a 85 mm bore is limiting, header is also limiting but not damning. And I agree with the timing issue, perhaps the tuner left it at 12-14 degress for the nitrous pulls when you did the all motor pulls. 65mm throttle bodya bit small as well for such big bore and port work. I would go with a 70mm and have it port matched to the im.

That's a badass graph. A 100 shot makes 106whp. Can't wait until I get started on my buildup.

Back to the post:

What kind of dyno was it on? Could be a mustang dyno that gives lower hp readings. If it's a dynojet, that is low. I'd think that even a non-tune more would make more power, but it could be running rich, or retarded timing. But you got some ***** throwing on a 200shot. Good luck with the project.

thanks specie.

I think the key to get a nos set up running right is to dial in the n/a tuning first. I would of not put a 200 shot on a engine thats running badly the nos will only compound the problem. I used no timing retard either. I tuned the timing on pump gas. Then I put in 103 octane on the nos, worked great for me.
