when i go on freeway, whens its a level ground...i drive fine...but the second the freeway isnt level anymore and it becomes a SLIGHT hill...my car slows down and stays constant even if i didnt move my foot at all...does anyone know why that happens? and when the freeway becomes a SLIGHT downhill my car would accelerate really well but once it goes to a slight uphill it doesnt accelerate... civic 97

 

your car is stock? if so, that means you got a slow car like mine, no tq means not going anywhere uphill

 

its normal, your car is slow.

 

5th gear + Stock SOHC + Going uphill = Time to downshift.

 

yea think about it. its a 4 banger. also its stock.

I experience that everyday. 105hp engine baby!!!

 

my friends geo metro will roll back down the hill so do not feel too bad. we even had to get out to push his pos up the hill

haha nonono my car never did that before...it started when i put in a CAI n then took it off..

 

Yeah I have the same problem only that I have less horsepower then . And yes downshifting is your friend.

get a new car or engine , but the car is auto but simple bolt ons might work but i know its a wate of money

its a stock civic... thats my diagnosis.

 

yea.... i could never figure out what 4th and 5th gears did in my CX tranny (but they did help me get 40mpg)

 

Yeah I have a cx also and 70hp doesn't get you anywhere fast not even going down a hill. But for gas milage

 

i think i need to flush out my transmission oil...since i feel the downshift drop when i get off freeway..wut do i use?
