Default Hatch back civic

WIll a hatch back civic tranny fit in a 91 crx with out any mods, will it just fit? I hate the gear ratio's on the crx, i do 75 in second gear. Also i am looking for an engin that will jsut drop into my car, i dont have to mjuch money right now so i cant afford modding, i jsut need a new engine and more horse+torque, can i drop an SI engine in it? Is the tran diff. from HF to SI

I just replied to your other post, but the HF has really high gearing. Its not that the CRX has high gearing, its your model CRX. ie, the Si gearing is much lower than the HF. Any D series transmission from 89-91 will fit on your car except for the 86-89 Integra trannies. Also forgot to mention that in the other post.

89-91 Civic/CRX Si tranny. Or personally, the 90-91 Civic EX tranny, it has a longer 5th gear, good for highway mileage. Not by much, but hey. Its the thought that counts . I have the DX tranny on my D15B7 with basic bolt-ons and it drives just fine, but racing isn't the best, gears are kinda long. Not near as long as the HF though. So if you are strapped for cash, you can usually find a DX tranny for somewhat cheap. Its a pretty good improvement from the HF.
