To anyone who knows/has done a mini me...
Starting next summer/fall (hopefully) I plan to start a project civic hatch or crx. It will be on a very very tight budget and limited space (dont even know where i will keep the car living at an apartment). I was orginally looking at a ZC turbo setup but i realized having never done an engine swap before or having an engine hoist a complete swap would be out of the question. So I was looking at putting a z6 head on the existing block. To try something alittle different my question is: Are there aftermarket rods and pistons I could install on this setup? Maybe even a cam? Wanna go for an all-motor mini-me because its not something you hear too often.
...everyone thinks the mini me is so easy and cheap...but in all honesty, I started out doing a mini-me... messed some stuff up and then did a zc swap... the zc was no harder than the mini-me and the damn mini-me probably ended up costing as much as the damn zc...
go ahead and get a D16 bottom end...
theres more aftermarket support for the 1.6L bottoms.....
remember that 1.6L parts dont work on 1.5 since the bearings are smaller.... all u cna use is the pistons, flywheel, oil pump, water pump, but not anyth9ign from like crank, rods ...
theres more support and more power can be gotten from the 1.6L rods

I have an EX (1.6) and did the vtec head last week. You can pick up a d16 for nothing so it shouldn't be to hard to find one. feels real nice everywhere over 3k rpms
