Importing a DC5 R to the states
Has anyone here done it? Im thinking of doing it from these guys here: http://www.evolutionimports.com/ They gave me an estimate of 23 grand for an 02 used, under 10k miles, fully loaded (HID etc.), and left hand conversion too. That price also includes the import tax, but not sales tax. Right now, it seems a lot better than getting a Type S here. I'd like to get some testimony if you did get one here to the states, and what troubles you had doing it. Thanks!
This might give you alittle info on what your looking for and what people has done...

If you can get one for that price, and you know it's in good shape...go for it.
For the same price as a Type S with the only difference being 10k miles, you can't lose
Their pricing, however, makes me a bit suspicious. On their site, they have the used DC5Rs they've sold marked at $18k without under 10k miles. That's unbelievable...? If I lived in Texas, I'd drive over and look at them first, for sure.

If I get it, I kind of want people to think its just a badged type s, that way they'll stay away from it. but kudos for those who would know what it really is. It'll be a sleeper in a way.

but wouldn't that opinion be vise versa in other countries?

yes there is, a lot. I'll just list a few of the big ones.
20 More Horse power in the Type R from different pistons, different cams, different exhuast system, etc. - it also makes higher revs and torque
Brembo brakes, HID, Body kit, lighter over all weight, Recaros seats. Tighter suspension which makes better handling, LSD.
In short, it has more "performance" parts than the type s. And last but not least it has the official ARRR
