Default drive train woes

the vehicle is a 90 hatch with a 90 integra XSi B16A and a PR3 computer.

i recently replaced my fuel pump after it went out 2 months ago with a brand new OE Honda fuel pump. things were fine for a while.now i have a new problem. the car sometimes wont start right away, and now the car is spudering, and backfiring between shifts. and sometimes the car will throw a code (which on i do not know) the engine will begin to sound like a rotary at times. but above 3k rpm the vehicle will have no power, will not accelerate, and at time will start bucking and surging. also during acceleration the cars sounds like it is misfiring. when the car throws the CEL, and the car loses power, all i have to do is turn the key back then forward, (while vehicle is in motion)and the problem goes away momentarily, and the CEL dissappears.

im guessing the coil, and or ignitor. and other suggestion? if i cant get it diagonssed, i will take it to a garage to get it diagnosed. just trying to save some cash.

thanks

i wish i could give u an accurate response but it sounds like spark related............ soo do what costs less first and go from there............ just try a normal ignition tune-up first...........

might even be a computer issue

the L.E.D. flashes one long time with a short pause in between 4 consecutive flashes. some one said it was electronic air control meter/valve on the back of the manifold.

would this cause my problem?

If your cap and rotor are in good shape and the plug wires and plugs are good then it sounds like ignitor, or coil. Does it ever happen when cold. if not then it is probably the result of either shorting or open circuits when they get hot. Pull the Distributer and check the connection then the components cold then warm them up with a heat gun to see if they are failing hot. Also check the bearings as when they fail it tends to mess other things up.

I saw this ad on Honda-tech banner once. the Dizzy's are $$, but new!

I'm half tempted to go ahead and buy one while I remember the site. I guess they're reliable, no personal experience though.

Just thought I might be able to help.
