DONT buy the Godspeed test pipe!!!!
DONT buy the Godspeed test pipe!!!!
Here is why:
1. The test pipe is too long so the exhaust is pushed out by about 1-2 inches.
Parts of the exhaust touch the bottom of the car. And godspeed says this is the
new improved design.
2. The the pipe that holds the O2 sensor is so high the O2 sensor can not sit
upright. The test pipe has to be tilted. This causes the the 02 sensor to be
stretched out so much, that is barely fit.
3. This is the worst part. The cat material broke and then broke into many small
piece. This caused my cel light to come on.
4. On the stock cat youcan see a foam like material around the cat. This absorbs
the shocks and bumps so your cat doesn't get damaged. The God speed pipe
doesn;t have it. The cat material just rattles around metal.
Save yourself headaches and just get a high flow cat. I finally got a carsound cat and it fit perfectly like the stock cat.

I have one of Dan's earlier test pipes and have had no problems as of yet. My only problems were the following:
1.) Too long, but I was still able to get it to fit.
2.) Bolt holes were too small so I had to drill them out.
I think Dan really does need to correct this problem about the length thing. Enough people have complained about it.
The O2 sensor on mine had a fitment issue but if you pull out the blue rubber cover you can get some more slack and that will solve that problem.

Yep, it's too long. I had the same problem. i was thinking of having a muffler shop flare out the front flange where it meets the donut so it grips a bit better as well. During the ITRExpo, more bolts rattled off, psuedo-open-header effect due to the increased length. It bugged the hell out of me so I re-installed my JDM cat...end of problem.
After I found my cat broken into a million pieces I e-mail God speed, he said that he would mail me another piece of cat. And I waited and waited and it never came.
What a crappy test pipe.

I had the same problem with my God Speed test pipe too. Dan told me that Apex-i must have given me the wrong exhaust -- back when I ran the N1 system. He said that he had never had this problem with anyone else.
He like to use that line, " I have never had this problem with anyone else."
I'm sticking with major stores, not these small stores.

Ditto here. My "improved" testpipe is too long as well and it makes my exhaust stick out and rattle against things underneath the body, but he insisted that his pipes were all perfect. I even measured it against my factory cat and the testpipe was a good .5-.75" longer.
He did offer to have me send it back, but the downtime my car would have with me sending it back to him to get it modded is just too long. A replacement would be nice though. I'll just have a friend reweld it for me this winter. For the money I paid though, the piece should have fit perfectly (or at least very good) IMO.

i had the same trouble with my carsound cat..too long..made my exhaust fall off the hangers and dragged my twin loop for a few laps..im much happier with my modified spoon cat jack..only way to get a perfect fit is to have the car and measure it..
My Godspeed test pipe was 3/8-1/2 too long for the Si; the rear flange was pretty awful in terms of quality.
Still, no CEL for almost 6 mos.
What other test pipe can make that claim?

I guess I am the lucky one here then.Mine fit perfect and has had no cel for almost 8 months.I liked it so much I recomended a friend get one.He did and his had the same problems you have mentioned.
with respect to the length issue: can't any local muffler shop cut the B pipe, flare the end, and weld back on the flange so that everything fits?
if you look at the really fast guys here (Lip, sgt, Tony the Tiger, etc.), they all have had to adjust their length on their header and exhaust. If it was easy to hook up to the stock mounting point then what makes it any different from the limitations those points place? I mean the Hi Tech long version header does not hook up to stock mounting points and you have to extend the O2 sensor wiring. Same for the SMSP header...if you don't have Dave's adjustable exhaust, you will have to adjust your current exhaust to have the header and cat fit...the tranny mount has to be removed for some versions... do you hear people owning these headers say "oh it doesn't hook up to my exhaust so it sucks, don't buy them." ? .....

Bare in mind that we are talking about a supposedly plug in play direct fit test pipe. Not a $1,300 custom header.so,yes I would expect it to fit because they claim it to fit.John at hytech will tell you that there will be some fabrication involved in getting his stuff to fit.

I have shortenned all new pipes to 16.75 inches. Apparently the way the flange sits against the donut gasket is different than stock and throws the lengths off a bit. As for the angle of the O2, due to length of the bung I had to angle it that way to clear the shift linkage. BlkType2000, I did send you a cat piece by USPS. If you'd like another one just let me know I'll send another one out to you. You're right, the cat pieces shouldn't break. Sometimes Fed Ex manhandles the packages I guess. Anyway, I am steadily improving the design of my test pipe. Originally it was to keep the CE light happy and cure a problems which I know bug some of you (not me). I will also enlarge the holes for the rear bolts on the next batch.
Did you take up your grievances with Dan first before posting this message? I have had Dan's testpipe for about 8months no c/e light fitment was okay...maybe you had a bad batch but I think it can be resolved if you talk to him..
Yeah, I have to agree with Kilohead. I've had mine for about the same duration and have had 1) No CEL, and 2) Fitment was as advertised. I'm very happy with the product and the service Dan (God) provided.

I have had the test pipe for about 6 mo's now. I am very happy, if you dont want these problems buy a $250 high flow cat. For the money the test pipe cost, it is well worth it, as well as any SMALL problems you might run into. Maybe I have one of the good ones? :~) Yes the O2 bunge is a little off, but i was able to install mine in the street in front of my house with very little problem, and i am a banker with little or no desire to get dirty, lol. :")
