Default how will the busted *** 200k civic POS run on the dyno?

shultz did one of these for his ubermotor, so i thought it would be interesting to see what everyone thinks the poor ragged out motor in my pig would do. i've done a compression test on her and she's reading 170-100-140-185 (1-2-3-4, supposed to rear 185psi across the board). the head has never been off and as of this afternoon the odo read 207,446. i'll be going down to CD Performance in Fall River on Saturday to make a couple baseline pulls. anybody want to make some guesses as to what she'll put to the wheels??

nate

oh, it's a d16z6 for those that don't know. k&n drop in, DC 4-2-1 header and a generic "performance" noise maker, er, muffler. other then advanced timing that's it.

My guess is 85-90. Was that the compression test you did before nationals or have you done one since? With the low numbers between 2 and 3, I figured you had a head gasket leak and possibly some valve seat issues. The decent numbers on 1 and 4 suggest the rings are OK, so the bottom end may not be hurting too badly.

98whp... but with your STS pax, that makes it somewhere north of 160whp

to be honest, i'm hoping for a really low sub-95hp number so i can justify rebuilding it. i probably won't touch it if she pulls down 115hp or so. would be nice to know how the hell the a6 motors are making that much with just a fresh head.

a6 motor is underrated from the factory. I've seen bone stock a6's with 90K miles put down mid-high 90's at the wheels.

Once you do STS legal boltons and a freshened head, 115hp is no problem on the a6.

Ok Nate, it's past Saturday, how many dozen horsies does your groundpounder have, inquiring minds want to know.

i was gonna start a new thread once i got the plots scanned in, but oh well, it's really only important to me. she made 110hp/92lb-ft. after looking at uncleben's dyno plot and seeing that he made more torque at 3k rpm then i made at peak i've almost got myself convinced to do the whole motor and be done with it. it's only money, right?

Damn!

I was going to say 110.

Eh, that's not as bad as it could be with the low compression numbers you have.

You're only down about 8-10 hp.

revalved shocks... lots of falkens... corner weighting... busted suspension bolts... fresh motor.

one would think that a nice, stock class car would be more fun at this point. I'm thinking a Mazdaspeed protoge would do quite well in D Stock.

Ah yes. Big pimpin wheels. Only drawback to the mazdaspeed (as far as costs) is the 17" wheels. But they're 7" wide 225 hoosiers would fit nicely. 245's up front?

If not, ITR's use 15" wheels and those are cheap

LOL. The last I knew the only turbos aloud in my area were in SPO. (SPU and SPO rules differ from region to region)

Guess I should keep up on the rule books.

did I mention my motor is stock?
hehe... what does the d16z6 make at the crank (rated anyway)
is that a VTEC SOHC or just a newer SOHC then my d16a6? not up on my d16 engine codes. did you do any tuning while you were there?

i'll be back to the dyno in a couple-three weeks when the *cough*sunbelt*cough* head goes on

Anywhere from 105whp to 120whp. My guess is 112whp or 107whp.
