RSX Type R confirmed for US launch?
In Consumer Reports Magazine: 2002 New Car preview, they talked about the RSX and the RSX Type S. They mentioned that the Type R model will follow a year behind as a 2003 Model. They also listed the specs of the Type R and an estimated price of $26,000.

Long time ago the driver for a ITR powered racing team. The driver (Cunningham) said they will be switching to the new ITR for next year. Also the top of American Honda said Type R will be coming.
but who wants to wait two years. In that case if you want a RSX now, just lease it until fall 2002 (saving the $100-200 a month savings in payment), and get a RSX-R. 3 years is a long time to hold your breath.

Len - it will not come to the States. Stay with the PY darkside. muhahaha.
Whoever said I would have to part with the PY?
I'm still not sure why Honda would want to bring it here. And realtime racing can do as much with the type s as they can with the R - all suspension, brakes, lsd, pistons etc gets changed anyway. It would probably be better for Acura to have them race the type S - they'd get more sales that way.
I suppose having a racer in the inventory helps their image - but then they have the NSX and S2000. So I'm a little skeptical. It would be great if they brought it, but it doesn't make much sense. And they're going for that whole luxury image now.

As for the luxury image they are going for...what's their answer to the WRX or the Lancer or the Sentra SE-R V-Spec...???? Although it might not sound like a very smart marketing move, bringing the ITR over as a "Limited Production" model will not affect the Type S image. Even when our ITRs were out, there were more GSR sales compared to the Type R sales. Some people just won't sacrifice the comfort the Type S offers for that Racer boy image of the Type R with it's loud interior and lack of sound deadening materials, stiff *** suspension for normal people.
I hope you are right. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be coming here next year. But there are always going to be doubters. I can't wait.
As for Acura announcing it officially, don't expect it to far in advance of the actual launch date. That's just the way they operate.

Well the US MOdel has been confirmed for a while. Let's see if it lives up to it's name like the Integra Type-R has.
There's a difference between an actual confirmation and rumors and assumptions...unless acura comes out with official statements...then we're just SOL.
