Suspension questions
I have been debating for a while on what I should use to replace my suspension, springs/shocks or coilovers(tien basics) I have heard both sides of the situation and it confuses the hell out of me. I live in illinois so the roads mostly suck but I do want to get into auto-x and I have a swap that will be in by spring. could someone lay the bag of rattlesnakes straight for me?
I'd run Ground controls and koni's but You might want to ask in the autoX forum as they can be more helpful. also you need to decide what class you want to run. Good-luck
Don't let the fact that you're going to autox affect your decision on your suspension setup. At least not unless you're going dedicated to being very competetive.
The difference between a stock suspension vs a nice suspension is only somewhere in the neighborhood of nill to 0.5 seconds on a 60 second course. Learning how to drive at an autox and practicing is your best bet at knocking your times down. The next best thing would be some sticky tires.
If you have anything more than an exhaust on your car, you'll likely be in CSP. And if you're not very experience, don't plan on beating those guys who have both a fast CSP car with sticky tires and a ton of experience.
Just have fun driving your car like a mad banshee and learn what the fast lines are through the course.
As for your suspension, get what feels good to you for driving your streets. You're gonna be spending 99.99% of your time doing that vs autoxing with them.

Thanks I was thinking of Koni's and a good set of springs. everyone I have talked to has either told me to get a good sprring /strut combo cause coilovers may be too rough to drive on the streets.
