ep3 passenger door makes a hollow sound when shutting and dealership says there nothing they can do
well i guess the topic says it all, my passenger door flexes when you shut it and makes a awful hollow twangy sound.it sounds like there no installtion or sound dampering material in the door. i went to the dealership to have it checked out and they instantly knew what i was talking about, telling me they have many SI's with this issue. i asked them what they do to fix it and they told me nothing saying it was just normal. i talked to shop manager and he explained to me that they had quite a few SI's with the door problem but structure wise the door was secure and built properly. also honda would only fix the door if they thought it was a problem and announce a recall. i have to shut my door softly otherwise it sounds like a hyundai instead of a honda. any suggestions on what to do,thanks.
Along the inner lip of the rear of the door, where the "latch" is, you will see two black, rubber cone-like bushing things.
Those can be screwed and unscrewed some to adjust the contact between the frame and the door
Try unscrewing those to thier maximum height (but not so far that they fall out), and they may help absorb some of the contact vibrations when the door is shut. Open them out too far, and the door might have to be slammed to shut.

LOL. I guess the topic DOES say it all.
I don't really like the way my doors close either, but nick and jon's ep3's close the same way so I think its normal

Buy $50 worth of dynamat and coat the interior of your doors (heck, put in some speakers while you are in there
). It should tighten up the door and not produce such a 'cheap' sound - the WRXs guys did this when they first came out, b/c many said the doors sounded cheap.
