LED Lights on Rear Roof Spoiler
I just finished installing LED lights on my roof spoiler in the stock 3rd brake light, fairly easy job with parts from Radio Shack. What do you guys think?
Of course the first pic is without the flash on the camera, the other 2 I used the flash that's why it looks dull.
I'm sorry they are so small. Go here: http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4290114721 to view them full size

I bought the (5) 10mm red led part# 276-086 and a 5-pack 200 ohm 1/2watt resistors. The LED's have a 1 long lead and 1 short lead. The longer is the positive and the shorter is the negative. The resistor is wired to the long lead in series then the same for the negative. Then attach your positive to the resistor side and your ground to the other side and, voila!

Well this pic was taken inside the shop with regular lights and no flash.
so I'm assuming at night it will be brighter.

I used a dremel to separate the lens from the housing ( if there is an easier way........tell me) then there was a clear lens inside, screwed on to the housing. I used that piece and carefully drilled 5 equal holes in it using different bits, from small to large, to fit the LED. I then used hot glue ( as opposed to clear silicone. It dries faster) to hold the LED's in place. The clear lens broke while I was drilling it so I cut a piece of plastic ( I had a case from a Bosch sander lying around) and reinforced the clear lens and I held it together again using hot glue. I also put the red part of the lens, and the housing with the now mounted LED's, back together with hot glue making a waterproof seal around the entire perimeter of the unit.

i've thought about doing this before, but with a higher count of 5mm LEDs. i never considered 10mm. after seeing yours, i think yours looks better and is obviously less work since theres only 5 of them. i think it looks great...it brings the car into this century...well almost
also the brightness will wake up the blonde in the SUV so she doesnt rear end you in rush hour

I like it I think it looks good too bad the 3rd brake light in a CRX is different but I still think I might try something like that since I have a few extra 3rd brake lights laying around.
Also coming from a electronics idiot could you elaborate a bit more maybe possibly a diagram on how you wired then up?? Thanks!!
