I have the USDM stock headlight housing with the shield removed. How good will this bulb work with my housings. I already know about the ban and removing the shield is bad and all that. These bulbs are H4. I am thinking of getting those in a more reasonable 4500k, just the normal white light.

You say "hid replacement" - do you already have HIDs - do you have the ballasts that are required - those bulbs look pretty cheap IMO - I have NEVER seen HIDs with blue colored stock bulbs - ...PLUS you have OEM housings with Flutted lenses - I would get a genuine philips kit from http://www.autolamps-online.com or try to find a catz kit & get aftermkt housings with a clear lense - search its all been covered before

plus those oem colored bulbs get hotter than reg HIDs, burn out easier - I don't know how safe they are right next to eachother - are they touching??????? IMO

there are 2 different shields - I think he removed the OEM one in his housing - not that big of a deal IF he has a good shield on the HID bulb (which you can see in the pic) - but you don't know how well that works until you try it. a bad placement of the shield will lead to improper beam cutoff & LOTS more glare to oncoming traffic - plus you lose hi beams (unless that blue bulb is for hi beams) - either way - I dunno, I wouldn't trust that thing

 

So are those bulbs for hid kits? or are they just replacement bulbs? Cause if they are where did you find them and how much are they?

 

ok its sortof a bad idea to stick hid's into stock housings, number one fluted lenses dilute the cutoff line and glares too much. you can retro projectors or reflecors into stock housings to give a good cutoff line but again clear or non fluted lenses would be best.

i retroed infinity i30 projectors in my sol. even though fluted lens, cutoff line is still sharp. no complaints form friends about glare and blinding when i drive behind them, only when i go over speed bumps.

I currently have 9007 Hid kit in the H4 housings(former car's kit). I used something to temporarily pull it back about 1/2 an inch so it can light where the h4 gives light. I also had to make a latch out of a paper clip.

These bulbs are from ebay and it looks as if the smaller bulb is for the bright light. it seems to already have a shield already. I think that the bulb being so close can cause problems though.

I am looking for an h4 hid bulb that has a moving shield or bulb for high beam. I saw these bulbs but colored bulbs produce more heat than anything else and give out less light.

Well, depending on what temperature range you want to burn at, colored bulbs are no good. if you want the best visability stick with 4300k~5100k thats the whitest light, anything higher decreases light output. well it turns blue and you have a loss of lumens i believe. theres a chart if you want to go in depth i can dig around the hidforum.com and pull it up. whatever floats your boat.
