Just talked to Neuspeed Tech support...
I was under the impression that the Neuspeed coilovers for the 2000 Civic came with the race spring. My friend has them, and the springs say "race"on them, but the tech support guy said that they were the SPORT spring, not the race. When I asked him about the color, and told him I was under the impression that they were the race spring, he said they were not the race. They came in a box labeled Sport Spring, but I figured they just used that box for shipping. Anyways he told me the spring rates: Front are 535, and the rear are 435. What do ya'll think? Too stiff for street use? The Sport spring is supposedly the ideal street performance spring.
What? The Neuspeed sport springs have half those spring rates. I doubt they use sport springs for their coilovers. They have to use the race springs. I think they just send you the regular sports springs and you got ripped off. I 'd send them back if I were you. Something doesn't smell right. I think they screwed up on the shipping. Do you have the threaded sleeves and all that? Sport springs don't go over 300lbs/in. Now it's possible they are sport springs but those spring rates he gave you are too high. The rates he gave you are for race springs. Ask them to ship you those that say "race" on them. Although I don't know if you want 500+lbs for street use. That's pretty high just for street use. If you plan on doing any track or auto-x racing than they 're fine.
Yeah, I'm gonna e-mail them to se whats up. Sounds like these guys are idiots and don't know what they are talking about. If the rates are 500+ I'll probably pass on this setup-too darn stiff. VTEConly, how do you, like your H&R Springs with the Koni yellows? Do they perorm well? Stiff enough? Too stiff? Just right?
I just have to throw in my .02c here. I have Tokico Illuminas with MaxxSpeed C/O's and I love those things. The car is VERY responsive to every little bit of input I put into the vehicle. Very nice setup.
