I was wonderin which u all though were the better ones out of the set ups.
Ground control coilovers and koni yellows vs. H&R sports w/ kyb agx's
I was also thinkin ground control coilovers w/ kyb agx's

I think pairing springs w/ the right shocks is key. I have H&R Sports on Koni Yellows, and the ride sucks pretty bad over larger bumps and dips. The H&R's lowered my car 3" yet the spring rate is only 276 lb/in. I plan to change to GC's made for Konis with spring rates of around 350 in front and 400 in back. I think the stiffer springs will help make the ride a bit more controlled, and I also plan to raise the car just slightly, at least in the back.
Koni yellows are a good match with GCs in my experience. I have AGXs w/ GCs currently and though the suspension is pretty well controlled the rears have croaked once, I assume due to ride height(though it was not that low) and a very heavy stereo system outback. I intend to bite the bullet and spring for the Konis at some point.
I have never had koni's but always have dealt with GC I love them they are the only coilover kit available that allows you to order different spring rates in my case I had a h22 hatch with higher rate in the front and integra rate in the rear do somewhat even out with kyb gr2's and as far as the ride went it was pretty smooth other than not being able to autocross in the car I was satisfied. And the reason why your friends ride was bumpy was because he might have had the stock struts on there and of course you know stock struts arent rated for that drop besides GC are the only coilovers that come with eibach which in my opinion are one of the best springs you can get for you vehicle.

I personally would not use any shock w/ GC's other than Koni Sports.
KYB GR-2's are only marginally better than stock and IMHO are not suitable for adjustable-height coilovers.
