Default TODA B's and Timing Belt

My friend put Toda B's in his car (B18C1 with CTR Pistons) and have snapped three timing belts so far. The first one, he bent valves, and fortunately on the other two he did not.

Why does his timing belt snap?

Thanks

I've changed two and never had a problem
Did he have the tension too high?
I didn't think it was possible, since it's self tensioning

Thanks for the info guys.....

What he did was change the cams to B16's. The car ran well with them and no problem with the timing belt. he ran a best of 13.4@100 on 15" slicks. We put in a ctr intake cam two days ago, and we are going to the track tonight at E-Town, NJ.

I will let you know what happened.

Paul

Finally found the problem why the timing have been breaking, because Toda B's, does not work well with JUN valve springs.

Default You need to read this

You should have said that in the first place. No matter what ANYONE says, be it Toda vendor or those talking via experience, TODA RECOMMENDS THAT YOU USE THEIR VALVE SPRINGS, period dot dat. I KNOW there are vendors selling a "package" that does not use the springs, but I talked to Ali himself @ Toda. He pretty much said you take your risks if you use anything else. If anyone cares to see the mail, email me privately @ eternal21@hotmail.com

There are currently NO springs stateside. Fortunately, I snagged up the last new set about 3 weeks ago, with more not scheduled to arrive stateside for another couple of weeks. In light of current events, it may be longer than that.
