Default b16 hp non vtec

Yea i was wondering, oh how much hp a b16 has non vtec. only cause the b16 i have in my car is non vtec do to a broken speed sensor... but a few ppl say it should be the same as a Ls motor, just with less torque, until i raced a LS hatch and smoked it by like 2 cars.. so if any one knows just how much power a b16 has non vtec please let me know...another problem i have is when i hooked up the vtec the speedometer started buggin out and stopped working along with the vtec.. but the speed sensor was fine before i hooked the vtec up.. now im afraid to put a new one on thinking the same thing might happen.. is there a ground or something i dont know about?

The B16As were all VTEC. Do you mean you're running in safe mode? So you're racing with a CEL? Or do you not know anything about the engine that is in your car?

- Yea if you read what i wrote you might have understood everything a little better, obv. every b16 is vtec, but i said mine does not work do to a BROKEN speed sensor, which means the vtec will not engage.... good job

ok, this topic is a little wierd. its probably not a good idea to be racing your car when its not working very good. however, power numbers would be similar to a zc motor

- just to clear everything up the motor works fine, other then it not popping vtec. but thanks for the info about the ZC... i just want to know exactly how much power it has.

You're still an idiot. It runs extremely rich in safe mode, meaning you're not getting nearly as much power, not even close to a ZC, you're also going to be getting extremely horrbile gas mileage, and you're also damaging your spark plugs.

His ghetto engine? LOL you must be a total moron, He isn't obviously running in safe mode that will make him run rich due to no vtec. The ECU doesn't throw any other codes but 23 I believe which is no VTEC. Therefor why would he run rich if he isn't using VTEC. It isn't like if VTEC doesn't work then the VTEC fuel and timing curves will. Instead of trying to flame someone, you could try and help them so I suggest you put the fire out on your flaming ***

With V-Tech disengaged your motor will run unencumbered, you should hit 200whp easy. Time to start reving on your friendly neighborhood 5.0's.

Seriously, why can't you fix it? It is anyone's guess how much horsepower you would make.

heh, good idea. Beside you can never know too much info. That is why you don't have the answer cause you prolly never ask questions.

We are fixing the problem as of right now but we are just curious. If you don't want to answer the question don't reply.

I don't buy that for a second... but it sounds good...

My guess is HP is gonna be closer to 120 if the motor is in GREAT shape less the crossover problem.... your timing curve will not alter so power and torque are obviously going to be significantly lower... retrace your wires and make sure you don't have a short somewhere too before you try to fix the problem...

Mastic and LI huh? you guys new. Ever go out to nathans in oceanside or ocean parkway? As for your motor, prob inbetween an LS and a b16, due to the fact you can still rev to 8200 as opposed to the LSs 7200. But, since VTEC does deal with oil pressure, im not sure how safe revving out is. As for your prob, get a vafc as a temp fix.

If his speed sensor is broken, and "b16 is non vtec", which means he his throwing a code that would make it run in SAFE MODE thereby disableing VTEC. VTEC wont work if you have a CEL. So he is running in safe mode.

I can't believe so many people read your stupid bullshit when you dont even know how to type proper ******* english. " "

Actually, I am throwing a CEL for knock sensor, since mine is bad, but my vtec still engages even when the check engine light is on. My CEL is intermittent but even when the check engine light comes on I can get vtec changeover like normal.

So Vtec isn't disabled for every CEL code. I am not saying that he might not still be running in "safe" mode, as you say.

Good try though homie

Why does the horsepower output of your broken motor matter again? If it's that important of a question, go ask the only person who could possibly know the answer: a dyno operator after he dynos your busted B16.

Glad to see that you're icy hot enough to win races on a busted engine, though .
