It's gotta be something unique.
But it's gotta be practical too.
Something that I can use all of my technical skills on.
Maybe something like this:

This is a shot from last weekends Conference race at Portland.
I've seen this car around for years, and it never fails to crack me up.
You wanna bitch about SCCA?
Now here's a guy who really needs someplace to race his non-conforming race car!
Scott, who always thought a Citroen DS19 would make an excellent sleeper body under which to hide a monster...but there's crazy thoughts, and then there's being crazy...

Scott, he really could have used your help out there last weekend!! I think that car is under perpetual development, but I love the Surfboard sticking out the back window. I literally started to crack up when I came up to pass him in 6 and it got me thinking about surfing!

"More Lemon Pledge on the rear sway bar"
Scott, who thinks of emotion as something to be controlled on the track...it's dirty pool to make your competitors laugh...

I like the Bugatti inspired radiator. Now if he could just paint it baby blue, he might have a real looker!

Is he running real wood or particle board? I'm pretty sure particle board is not legal (benefit of being lighter) in his class. Imagine the tear down process during the protest.... "uh, anyone got a chain saw?"

Or a match?
Anyone note the mismatching upper control arm angles and heights of the upper ball joints? Even if there is some body roll there, they sure don't look too level. Also note that the inverted front coil-over shocks are basically running bottomed out with no travel remaining. If anyone knows this guy or knows that he has handling issues, it might be worth dropping a few hints. Is this chassis a Lotus 7-ish derivative like a Locost or something? Just kind of has that feel but I think it may be carrying more weight or running a lower height than was originally planned.

The guy that built it is a wood shop teacher. He has built several. The one the builder races is more of a wooden sports racer. That one is transported to the track in a "wood" motorhome where the back folds down and the car rolls out. He built the whole motorhome! The wood shop students help with the projects.
The "Woody" in this thread is all custom tube frame, using rectanglar steel tubing, and has a mid engine V6 with a Hewland Transmission. The body is made of wood, with a vinyl top, and it has what looks like real cowhide seatcovers, from one of those white w/brown spots cows.

Bently salesman: "Would you like the typical Connelly leather or the new Holstein pattern? It's all the rage you know."

you wanna keep the air shocks on those? Another option, if you can find one, is the Citroen SM, which they had built with Maserati. It was quite advanced for its time, as I recall. I have seen a couple on the roads. Ugly, but interesting. My uncle had a DS, it was, hmmm, an entertaining - plush - ride.
