Diamond racing wheels in 14x7 for HONDAs
In my desperate search for a cheap 14x7 wheel, I called Diamond racing wheels. They do make a wheel that will fit the hondas (5"backspace, using the FED center). It's a steelie, it's cheap at $71 a piece, but it does weigh about 17lbs.

I just thought ya'll might want to know. I think I may be ordering me a set of those. Maybe we could get a group buy if enough others are interested? I do believe they give a price break at orders greater than 10 wheels...
Edit: the only other options I have found are:
- Kodiak -> ~$300 each
- Keizer -> ~$300 each
- Circle Racing -> ~$200 each
- Panasport -> ~$200 each
Is saving 5-6 lbs per wheel really worth over $500???

maybe the better question is, is it worth getting 7" wide wheels at the price of 17lbs?
just keep checking improvedtouring.com classifieds, eventually you will find someone that is selling used... hey wait... i might actually know someone that is selling some Panasports (14x7 at about 12lbs) with tires. i'll PM you if the guy still has some.
Ben, who got his used from Tyson for a good deal

Very good question. 14x6 wheels can be found new for about $75 or so that weigh about 14lbs. And 14x6.5 BMW BBS wheels are lighter and can be found for reasonable prices as well.

I've used the Diamonds on my RX-7 for several years with no problems. They have proven durable (I haven't bent any).
They are not the lightest out there, so checking the classifieds for other options (used BBS comes to mind) is def. worthwhile.
But, worse case scenario, you buy some Diamonds, later find used Panasports, and relegate the Diamonds to rain-tire duty. Which won't be so bad, since they were cheap (I felt really bad mounting rains on Panasports, seeing as they would never get used).

I've been looking at 14" Diamond wheels for a few months now; very interested. I originally wanted some Kumho Victoracer or V700 tires on them (for autocross use). The only reasonalbe size they make is a 225/50R14 (not 100% sure about the 50) for a 14" wheel. I think Hoosier will be out of the question for wallet thinning reasons.
They make a FWD and RWD version of the wheel. The FWD is approximately 2lb heavier. The guy that I know that autocrosses a CRX uses the lighter wheels with no problems. That may be something to look into as well...

If you're autocrossing you could go for the Lenso VDP's at 13x7.5 w/Kumho's 235/45-13. Us roadracers are locked into 14" by rules - not by choice. We also need to keep the tire tread under the fenders. If you're running auto-x, by all means use a RWD offset and stick those tires out of the fenders.
I have been religiously checked improvedtouring.com every day, looking for wheels. No luck yet.
The set of BBS wheels that I have found so far are about $250 for a set. maybe worth it if you can mount 225s on them. I also don't quite know how well they will fit with an offset of only 30...

honestly, I'm not sure. I was kind of going with the wider is better philosophy. And 225 seemed like the widest you could fit on a 7" wheel... Maybe it's a silly approach?

I don't know. I'd check around the paddock at the next MARRS weekend and see what people are running. I'm sure you ca squeeze a 225 in there - what is/was Scott running?
EF civic can put 225's on 14x7 panasports easily, the fenders are flared stock. CRX's can do it, takes a bit of massaging and some extra neg camber, but ive seen it done, and with slightly better lap times. but 205 is all you need.
and my opinion about these wheels, after seeing how 205 tires fit on 14x6 and perform, i would spend more effort in finding really cheap 14x6 lightweight rims like miata wheels or something, than spending money on heavy 14x7 wheels. just my thoughts.

Yes you CAN get 225's on a 6" rim - my friend has been road racing 215/50-13's on 5.5" rims with no problems. But the question is: do you WANT to, and is there any gain? (especially for a light car)
thanks for the input, ya'll. I got a bid on a set of BMW 14x6.5 on ebay right now. If that fails, I'll be looking at 14x6s.
cool, less money to spend. me likey.

There is more than one front running CRX/Civic on the east coast running 225/50/14s on 14x6 wheels. Yes, it works just fine.
A 14x6 12lb wheel is a better choice than a 14x7 17lb wheel all day long seven days a week.
Scott, who gets 225/ 45 /13s on 13x6 wheels without an issue.

all right. I didn't get the bimmer wheels. They went to high for my taste (over $350...).
Now, what are the cheap light choices in 14x6? Someone mentioned Miata wheels. What year(s)?
Other choices?
TIA

Heck you can get wheels at Sears - (Z racing Type 44) in 14x6 for about $50/each. They are 14lbs I think. The early Miata wheels are 14x5.5, later ones are 14x6. Here's all you need to know:

You can find lots of used miata wheels on eBay and miata.net classified.

The only problem I have with this "Look for used wheels" thing is that they are USED wheels. You have no idea what they have been through, and if bidding on-line you may not even get a look at them until you've bought them. Racing wheels are wear items just like tires, and eventually give up the ghost.

What about regular bmw e30 wheels (the not bbs ones)?
I got a set at the junkyard for $90 and they are 14x6 (I'm pretty sure. I know they arent skinnier, though). I weighed them at 12lbs. Also I have integra brakes and the e30 wheels fit over them great. Just be careful of bent ones. I had to sift through a ton of wheels before I found straight ones.
