Default DC4 vs DC2 - we're not talking about washington......

Howdy gentlemen,

I would like to hear the most concise reason all 94-01 Integra Hatches are called DC2's - when not all are....
Also would someone like to clarify the difference between the DC2 and the DC4 and so on...

The people int the Integra forum might have been able to answer this question quicker.

Here's my guess:

The DC4 is a 94-01 LS/RS/GS. Its trim level slightly differs from the GSR and Type R in that is has side moldings...hence although they look a lot alike, the fenders and doors are slightly different on the DC4's and DC2's...

I thought it was simply: (for 94-01)

DC4 - non vtec integra 2dr.
DC2 - dohc vtec integra 2dr.

that's how I understand it.

btw Miriaz: GS-R's do have the door moldings, in the US anyways. And the fenders/bumper cover/hood/etc are all the ame to my knowledge. That's for USDM stuff though, you being in Japan, may have been talking about JDM cars specifically, dunno.

that's what I meant...the GSR and Type R DON'T have moldings whereas the GS/RS/LS do. DC4 usually refers to the chassis type not the engine...so hence, I am mentioning the difference that I personally notice between the DC4 and DC2

I thought those were the chassis code and doesn't matter what trim it is? Just like BMW E36, doesn't matter if it's 325i, 328i or M3, they all share the same E36 chassis.

DC2 is for 2dr Integra. DB8 is for 4dr Integra. But I haven't heard of DC4?

I asked in the integra forum a long time ago, wai, and my answer was that dc4 referred to the non-vtec integra 2drs. Still, seems odd.

as far as USDM goes, I believe that is true.

(1994-2001 Integra)

VTEC coupe = DC2
non-VTEC coupe = DC4
VTEC sedan = DB8
non-VTEC sedan = DB7

To my knowledge that is correct. The only differnece is the engine, which I never understood. Because it seems to me that the engine does not change the chassis and there is no apparent difference in the chassis, just what motor it has in it. Maybe honda is just trying to throw us all for a loop.

I find it odd that Honda gave the LS/RS/GS a different chassis code when the difference was in the engine, yet the ITR shares a chassis code with the GS-R even though it has a slightly different chassis.

Anyone else think that's retarded?

I agree- according to honda literature the Type R has "significant chassis changes"

Either way, the reason this came up is due to my recent article in Honda Tuning about the AWD intega I referred to my 94 LS (DC4) as a DC2. Well, a reader wrote in and was asking why I called the 94 LS a DC2. Well, he was correct. But, the thing is for every one that knows the LS is a DC4 there are 10,000 who think it is a DC2.
Besides - if you go to mugen, spoon, etc sites most to all integra hatches are just blanketed DC2.

Thanks for the input guys!

Maybe in Japan, but in the US the DC4 body is identical to the GS-R body.

Yes it does get side moldings in the U.S. Only the Type R's got them removed.

yes, as I clearly pointed out in the 3rd or whatever post of this thread...

"did anyone read this?" lol jfwy

anyways, that's a body difference imo, not a chassis difference so no need for a different chassis code imo.
