Bad idle at start up?
I've been driving my cousin's 88 legend the past couple days and i've noticed the car has a bad idle. Does it every morning and everytime its parked for longer than 3 hours.
The car would start up with a normal idle but during the first 500ft. with normal acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear the car would jerk back and forth. Then right after the car has been jerking back and forth and comes to a complete stop the idle starts jumping around from 100-600 rpm. I thought it was just my driving but it happens everytime? and the problem goes away after the car has been running for longer than 5 mins.
Is this a major problem i should be concerned with?
the car's history....
new clutch with 5000 miles on it
new starter
need an oil change
thats about all i know about the car any input would be appreciated.
thanks.

Check your ECT sensor (engine coolant temp.) with engine cold(key on engine off) your voltage reading should be .8 - 1 volts. Keep the voltmeter hooked and start the engine and watch the voltmeter. As the engine warms up voltage reading should drop on. with engine warm(cooling fans cycled twice) the ECT sensor voltage should be .5-.7 volt. Now if ECT reading is above .7 volt with engine warm you have a bad ECTl.
