How does that trick w/ the ATF to clean carbon deposits work?
I was told to just unplug a vacuum line off of the manifold and let it suck up a little fluid. How much should I have it suck up? Does it work well?

Also does this procedure cause any harm to the CAT? I heard there will be clouds coming out of the exhaust.
It will smoke like a mf. Chemicals in tranny fluid will eat at the deposits. Make sure engine is WELL warmed up before doing this procedure. Shouldn't hurt a decent cat. I would use perhaps a half pint or less of fluid. Be sure to aim your exhaust at your neighbor's flower garden. They will thank you in many ways.
if you want to clean carbon depostists, you can pour SMALL amounts of water into the throttle body, and that will clean it out.
Pour water into the T/B ??? Ack ACk ACK !!! maybe mist it in ..... Just get a CAI and drive in the rain HA HA HA.....j/k
I don't know about the cleaning of the deposits, but it's safe for the cat, just don't do it on a daily basis.....
ATF in the intake manifold makes for a hell of a smoke show.... I have seen a company over here that installs a system for a smoke screen in your car..... smash the pedal and ATF it...... FOOM.... you're fumigating the whole road..!!!!
