Default b16 rex owners using Skunk2 intake manifold...questions for u.

How do you like this setup, and what kind of gains have you noticed since you put the Skunk2 intake manifold on? Where do you feel the most significant power gain, is it definitely noticeable, and are you satisfied with it? The most common hp gain numbers I hear are 8-15 hp.

You will not gain 8-15 with a intake manifold upgrade, Dont listen to anyone who tells you that.

I have one on my B20... I only rev to 6800 cause of the stupid LS ecu, anyways I cant really tell a difference.... But it doesnt flow best @ that RPM.... Anyways... I know that it flows better then the stock and LS IM so I got one. Hopefully I'll see better results with a higher redline and better cams.... The stock B16 IM flows pretty good... Id stick with the stock one and spend the $ elsewhere.

Just my .02 cents

Blaze

Unless you have after market cams I really don't think the intake mani helps, I have actually seen people loose a little power with stock cams and the skunk2 mani.

i have the skunk2 mani on my b16 and it works fine.only problem was getting the intake air temp sensor in behind the fuel pressure regulator(i had to modify the connector)and i also had to cut a piece of the corner off or else it wouldnt fit(one of the corners was hitting some bracket or something)

It does not give you 8-10 hp like most people say. To me all i noticed was like 3 at most on the top end. (since i have stock cams) It only works good if you have a combination of things such as Intake, Headers, Exhaust, Cam Gears, Throttle Body, Intake manifold, etc. Then you will notice some good gains.

kris</TD></TR></TABLE>ok, i appreciate the help.....wait, you didn't give me any. I asked if people with the SKUNK2 MANIFOLD could tell me if they're satisfied with it and if they noticed significant gains. Also, I don't know why the **** everybody keeps telling everyone to use the search feature and automatically assuming that all people on h-t are retarded and don't know how to look for something before they post a question, but it's really getting annoying that everybody jumps all over eachother because they have nothing better to do than make themselves look like an elite member and treat everyone like a noob.
Anyways, can someone who isn't going to tell me to buy something else(itr, ctr manifold)please let me know how they like it, what gains they noticed, and were they significant? I would appreciate it. I'm looking for feedback on the product in the thread title, not a recommendation to buy something else. Thanks guys.

hey bro i'm using one in my b16 rex right now. can't really feel any major different compare with the stock manifold, throttle reponse is a little better. well, i guess thats because i'm using a ITR throttle body. the skunk manifold gives your engine bay that nice clean look. Overall, I am very satisfied with the skunk2.

No I dont have that setup currently, look in my sig for my setup.(Ported skunk intake)
Yes I used to run a skunk intake on a b16 and noticed 0 difference over the b16 except at 7800 to revlimit.(it pulled through the rpm slighly quicker) And that was just butt dyno which means nothing anyway.
The itr manifold is better anyhow because some of the skunk manifolds have core shift. Also if you look into a skunk at the first radius turn into the #4 cyl (where the lower throtlebody studd is) The casting is all messed up and they put jb weld in there to try to clean it up alittle.
Btw , if you dont want advice from people here then dont bother asking questions because everyone has something to say...
Your attitude sucks btw. A guy trys to help you, and you flame him. your just as bad as the search junkies.

Second, I asked about the Skunk2 manifold, not the ITR manifold, so if that makes my attitude "suck" for getting tired of hearing 'get this instead of what you already have, why did you get that' and "search" as replies, then yeah...guess my attitude sucks. Thanks for the info about the manifold though.

Read..JB weld..not welds. And I'm sure if you were sitting next to me I could point it out to you and you would retract that statement.

If you run your finger into the first inside turn you will feel the area I'm talking about.

That could be true, the newer ones might be fixed

If you look at this pic and were to run your finger through the insider turn at 2:00 you will feel the area I speak of.. just a fyi

I have seen dyno charts of a stock b16a with usually stuff like H/I/E and a skunk2 manifold and it really didn't make that much power only about 2-3 more peak horsepower, also their was no increase in the midrange at all. You really won't see a big gain if your only running stock cams with this manifold. On the chart I could see where the b16a ran out of steam but the manifold wanted to keep on making power but the cams wouldn't allow it.

Makes sense.

dont forget, youll be throwing alot of air witht aht list of cams and stuff, dont forget the fpr so to even it out and make optimal hp, cause with that much air, it will run lean

Well, my idea is to do my upgrades systematically. Before I do mods that will give me significant gains, I want to start with small things. My first step is to make sure the motor 'breathes' properly, so to speak. After I do that, most mods I do(i.e. cams, camgears, VAFC, etc, etc)then A: what I recently purchased will respond optimally, and B: what I already HAD(Intake manifold, header, exhaust, etc)will respond better because it's working to it's maximum potential. I have a method to my madness afterall

You can't notice any differences, yet you are very satisfied with the look?
