Default Best transmission for all motor?

I'm currently running a Y1 cable trans on my B16a and have 2 issues:

1) Third gear synchros keep crapping out even though I no longer shift with my foot on the gas

2) Is this the best for all-motor? Can someone explain 'final drive' to me and why I would want to change my ratios?

Thanks!

you could rebuild your tranny or a 93 gsr tranny would work good also

I've replaced the synchros before but they just don't last...what's my alternative?

If your synchros are dying that fast you're doing something wrong. These are not particularly fragile trannys. It seems unlikely that swapping to a different tranny would solve the problem.

92-93gsr transmision is what you want. They are hard to find and people usually want to much for them but the gearing is nearly identical to usdm type r. Y1 tranny has lower final drive. If final drive # is larger car with accelerate faster but have less top speed. If final drive # is smaller car will be more of a highway crusier. This is true most of the time. Only ls non-vtec and Y1 tranny have 4.26 final. All other cable have 4.40 final gear with ys1 being shortest.
