I think i need a altinater
Well my car was sitting. Then i pout a new tranny in and it started up fine. After a lil while if i put my blinker on, radio, heat/air it cuts out.And now my battery is dead.Is it just the altanater not charging the battery?/
I second that. If you have the money get a Honda one, it will last a lot longer than the autozone crap because when places like that get them they usually only replace the bad part and than sell it. Honda will replace all the stuff and you know you are getting a good part.

True, but that life time warranty can't be beat.

if the volts on your battery ready 12 or less then you need a alternator....the battery puts out 12 volts the alternator puts out 2....so you should be at 14 volts.
Actually it will output more than 14 not 2.
In anycase, if your alt was gooing you'd get the battery light on the dash.
Swap in a known good battery and start the car...check the voltage....if it reads 14 + Volts...the alt is in good shape. If it doesnt, then 1st check the fust for the alt feild coil, then make sure the power connector to the alt isnt corroded. If it still reads < 14, then get a new alt.
And good luck replacing it...that stupid tensioner bolt is impossible to break loose.

The alt puts out 2V? hahah... sorry, that was amusing
Anyway, the alt should put out above 13V at idle and above 14V off idle. The battery maintains its charge through the alternator. You can't charge the battery with just 2V - it needs more power at the terminals to charge it than it can hold
