most of us with honda/acura cars use a wheel/tire combo that is at a maximum of 23" in diameter. taller wheel/tire combo's generally hurt acceleration for us. for more information on this topic, please search for archived posts.

Links nate?

I cant remember this being discussed. I know of a few prelude autocrossers that use this size.

For what its worth I run these on the street/track/autocrosses where I don't want to waste my Hoosiers. It was a tight squeeze on my Integra on a 16x7 wheel. The rear fenders have been rolled (via baseball bat method )). The fronts will occasionally touch the top of the fender well on a BIG dip. Not really a great fit overall plus... like nate said you loose a little gearing.

I run that size on my 16x7.5 rims. They are NOT any taller than the stock 205/50's because of the wider rim and lower profile tire. But then again I drive a prelude and we have more room for tires than the civic.

it's not discussed much here (gee, i wonder why...) but at great length and frequency in the civic forums. he posted this same thread over there as well.

and how is a 215/45/16 the same height as the 205/50/15? or where you comparing it to the 205/50?/16??

205/50/16. the prelude comes stock with 16's not 15's. At least the 5th gens did.

15's are great - but I have wondered whether the extra rubber on the ground was worth it to use this size tire/wheel.

Do it. Fenders are a wear item.

I wasn't trying to suggest you shouldn't... I was just suggesting that fitting them may take a little extra work. Finder liners can be replaced... rear fenders can be rolled... its no big deal.

On the other hand, it should be noted that the 205/50/15 Azenis are only a tiny bit narrower then the 215s... and have a hair better gearing.

stock tire size 195/55 r15 =595mm or 23.42in
215/45 r16 falken =599.9 or 23.61in .....not much difference.
Yet most people are probably running 205/50 r15 which is 586mm or 23.07
So that change in Dia. was bigger than you would experience when switching to the 16" size.
I think rubbing would come down to offset and the biggest performance loss from going to a 16" falken would be the weight of those damn azenis (5lbs heavier vs my old dunlop 205/50 15 compared to the 205/50 15) I imagine the 16 is worse.

yeah, i'm prolly still gonna get them, its just that i didnt wanna have to do extra stuff just to make them not rub the fenders... i'm not so worried about the diameter as i am the sidewalls rubbing the fenders under hard cornering, etc. time to put a 20" lift kit on the teg... tite y0!

They fit good. I was planning on rolling back the fenders for a little extra cclearance because they are very close.

One of the local civic auto-xers is running those size of azenis, and they seem to be working well for him. I don't think he had to do any mods to the fenders or anything. Then again, I don't know too much about the car

I have them on my integra (92 though), on 16x7.5 kosei K1s (+43 offset). No fender-tire rubbing at all. I autox the car and it's been to 1 track day with the mentioned wheel/tire combo.

I thought you were r0llin on 15s?

anyway, you arent very lowered so I doubt it would rub at all, even if it did a little baseball bat lovin' would clear that right up

well said... i dont own an STi, it ownz me. it tells me to fill her up with gas, change her oil, wash her, and i do what she says. as a reward, i get to push the "velocitator" through the firewall for full b00st. as RJ would say, "thats disgusting..."

and evan, i still have some life in the kumhos and i would feel a lot better if i chewed those up before i drop another $450+ on azenis. i still need to get a new set of XP's and a rear caliper before nov. oh yeah, and i have a new timing belt/water pump sitting in my room that needs installation, you f00ls wanna help me out with that?

Better yet, just let Gerald drive your car. He eats 712's for breakfast.
