Can u use the accord tranny with an h22 motor?

accord94dx is right, you wouldn't get the full capability out of the motor because an accord is geared toward comfort and gas mileage

I have a h22 tranny bolted to my f22a1 and the gears are extremely short cause its made of course for the h22 that revs to 8200rpm but it is fun to drive around town with the shorter gears...so yes you can use that tranny with the h22 motor but you probabaly would like the shorter gears better
better for turbo, a lot worse for anything otherwise. You would deffinately get better gas millage iwth the f22 tranny, but you'd also be about 1-1.5 tenths slower in a 1/4 mile race.....eh, up to you on that one.

i know a guy with a 2.3 cl, f23, that swapped an h22 and kept the f23 tranny. He ran a 14.7 with only e/i. Doesn't sound like too much of a difference to me.
I'm thinking about the swap right now, but I'll probably just get the h22 tranny since the price isn't too much more, and we could probably sell our f23/f22 for a decent price with the tranny.

whats up d98! yeah i was talking about you, and i remember you telling me you ran 14.7 stock, but i just figured that you already had exhaust before the swap, and the f22 intake fits too so i guess i assumed that because the time was pretty low.
14.7 bone stock is a swift time! I can't wait for my h22! heres my car, i think i switched names since the last time i talked to you on
A-CL.

I HAVE my old f22 tranny on my new H22a right now. My car runs beautifully. Yes the gears are a bit long, but all the better for the future turbo.
Besides....a guy Imet with the h22 tranny said he hated it because he was all the way up in 5th gear half way down the 1/4mi strip.
I think sloaccord is a tad misinformed.

so u think its better to keep the f22 tranny with the h22? longer gears are better for turbo can u explain into detail why that is so cause im thinking about keeping my f2 tranny as well thanks

The f22 tranny has longer gears so it takes longer to get to the higher rpms. This isn't so good with the normally aspirated h22 because the vtec loves the higher gears.
With the turbo however, you crank a little boost and suddenly the longer gears are great because you don't run out of gears. You get to stay in lower gears for longer.
The h22+f22 tranny is quicker than the h22+h22 tranny normally aspirated.
But the h22+f22 tranny +turbo will be faster than the h22 + h22 tranny+ turbo from what I understand.

you mean for boost, the LONGER gears would do the trick.
with boosted motors, you want longer gear ratios so you can stay in boost longer, otherwise stick the prelude 5-spd if you're staying n/a.
