What kind of things scream "Steal me!" on a car?
So I've been wondering what about a car draws attention to thieves? Exhuast? Body kit? Wing?
And how can you make a Civic less prone to being stolen? I personally live in an upper middle class quiet town. I've had an '88 Corolla's windows smashed once, but that's about all the auto crime I've personally experienced in seven years here. What kind of theft deterrent would this kind of environment warrant?

i personally think the main draw to a car would be the fat exaust. my ride is stock with all its mechanical performance parts. all i have is a sound system in it, which is not even noticible unless i'm either bumping the music real loud, or they see my head unit in the dash(which i never leave in when am not in the car).
i say it is the exaust because that is the first thing a theif notices when he sees the car, he might assume it has other performance parts in it as well.

Any of the above. Depends on what the thief wants. The quieter your area is, the more likely your car will be stolen IMO. I have never had my car stolen in a bad neighborhood.

Then again, I got my window smashed in a quiet neighborhood, and not when I lived in an apartment in the ghetto.

I think if you got a big'ol intercooler, or some bright red recaros....a 5 lugger conversion shouldn't help either or a jdm front end.

Rims too. they are worth multiple thousands with the tires and can be removed VERY quickly.
I am kindof regretting buying the rims I did, they attract too much attention. But that's what my security system is there for.

i agree that rims are what get my attention first (especially if they are bling blingy)
one thing i would like to add...if you are going to be watching a movie at the theatres for the next 2 hrs, don't draw attention to yourself. ex. bumping your system so that the whole parking lot can hear it or driving around like some formula one racer!!

The real secret is to not be attached to the car. Personally money I spend on my car I never expect to get back. If the car gets stolen, then **** happens. If a theif wants your car they'll get it. Whether the get away with it is dependant on their own smarts.

The Real secret is to hide a shotgun in your car with a trigger that will be pulled if they get too close to the car
I can't not be attached to my car. I worked too hard, spent too much money, and have entirely too much fun with it. I'd go nuts if it was gone

I know it's difficult not to be attached but lazer has a point. My car was broken into when I had an unpainted body kit and primer all over. They just wanted my system cause I was stupid and played it loud everywhere. They could have easily taken the whole car. I had my window smashed at school, probably cause they wanted my system, the tint kept it from shattering. After that I took out the system. I have had no problems since. I seriously exptected my car to be jacked by now so when it does finally happen I've told myself that there's nothing I can do so I'll have to grin and bear it and look in the bright side. New car

Stickers Like Boost Inside, a Done Up inside and Outside, Stickers Say what your runing, Mugen Parts, Spoon Parts, Volk Rims. **** people want, u come up to the mall slaping your JL System, or telling everyone what your runing, and runing a shitty Viper 300 Alarm or whatnot. Poped you hood to people you don't know and you don't have a Securtiy on your car, or a very weak one, I have a very good Security System on my ride, almost unstealable, only way is 2 tow it, but i will get paged and know about whats going on, don't think i just have 1 alarm system on my ride.
