How many GS-R's did Honda really build?

I was always curious. Are any of you? Does anyone know for sure? Or do you know a way to find out? Conclusively? Over the 10 years?
What would you say is the percentage of GS-R's, compared to ALL Integras? I found an automobile "yearbook", and it gives "total cars produced by....." figures but not any breakdowns beyond that.
Anybody got any opinions on this?
Thanks.

Very helpful
And I would say you are VERY WRONG.
If it's MORE THAN 2000 a year, I'd be VERY surprised.
You probably think there were ALOT of TypeR's as well.

With all these conflicting opinions, I can't rely on you guys. LOL. I'll have to do more research myself.
I think everyone is being way to liberal with their figures.
In the "Auto Yearbook" I was reading at the library, it said for ALL of 1992, for ALL models, Acura sold something like 100,000 cars in the entire US. And Honda doesn't breakdown model figures for publication. So, It's hard to believe in later years they were selling up to 200,000 Integras, alone, each YEAR for 7 or 8 more years seems like an awful lot of cars to me. Can anyone confirm that figure?
BTW, what's the highest GS-R chassis serial # you have? Or have seen?
Just curious to see how high they've gotten up to.

I said 100K/ year, which means around 25K GSRs/year.
The vast majority of ALL Acura sales were Integras and we're talking 94-01, so whatever happened in '92 is irrelevant.
I'll go take an actual look at facts and figures.
Acura total production:
1992 120100
1993 108291
1994 112137
1995 97151
1996 105443
1997 106844
1998 108758
1999 117312
2000 142681
2001 170469
Figure 70-80% are Integras, probably diminishing from '98 on, when the TL came out.

I've heard that the 1992-93 GSRs were all produced in 1992 and numbered less than 5000 units.
They are much rarer than Type-Rs worldwide.

These seem like the same production numbers I was reading. LOL
But how'd you arrive at the "70-80%" figure, for Integras?
I'm not disputing it, I'm just curious, if you know it's 70-80% for a fact?
Just trying to learn here at HT, I can't do otherwise god help me. LOL
JDMDA9- I heard the same thing. But I can't find it "written down" anywhere. Do you know where you heard or saw that info? Because I can't 100% confirm, ANYTHING when it comes to tracking Honda/Acura production figures.
They seem like a closely gaurded secret.

I'm extrapolating from an AutoWeek I read at the dealer some years ago along with miscellaneous articles here and there.
I think I also read something like 76% in one of the Acura owners mags they used to send me some time back (I don't get them for my latest car - guess Integra owners are dirt). I think my mom might get them with her TL-S.
The Integra has always been the bread and butter of Acura, until the TL, at least.

Thanks, that helps a little. I'm assuming that was near the end of the 3G's term, right?
Like '99,'00,'01?
Still seems kinda high, though.
I see a 20-30 3G's pass me a day, I ALWAYS look for the silver badge under the pass. tailight, though.(yes, I know SE's have it too.
)
And I MIGHT SEE 1 or 2 a WEEK.
So the ratio seems lower in my neck of the woods at least. LOL
That's a rough average of 2 or 3 out of 150-200 a week.LOL
Not scientific or anything, but the best info I have available at the moment.

Don't forget attrition. Some cars have the crap beat out of them or are stolen and stripped more often. Think ITR.

Does the vin # reflect the correct production # made on the GSR? I have a 99' GSR and my # is 4140.

Yes I agree, DO NOT divulge complete VIN's. It's unfortunate it is come that nowadays, though.
I'm pretty sure the last part of the VIN is sequential. So that would mean yours was the 4140th teg produced that year. But I don't know if the GSR's were in a seperate squence. Or part of the larger Integra sqeunce.
