ANYONE in GRAND RAPIDS,MI...Need some help
Don't know where to post this really......
I guess I need to call some people in with some more knowledge. I am having a hell of a time trying to get my JRSC LS crx running right. Anyone around here willing to lend their skill, knowledge, and time for a little bit? Having a few problems, could all be related, or possibly not. PM me if you have a little time some night coming up here. I know there's alot of people around here with much more knowledge than I have and it is possibly something stupid and simple but I am not sure.

I'm in Wayland...'bout 25 miles south of you. I go through GR all the time though. Maybe I could find some time one of these days to lend my meager skills.
thanks for the generous offer...anyone a little closer so he don't have to drive so far? if you are up for the drive some night I can work out a time with you.
just got your PM...Ill talk to you there

bump... TIMONEX will be coming here tonight, any FI gurus around here interested in giving your .02? He is an NA guy, but any input is good input for me
TIMONEX...you are awesome man, thanks for coming out. Didnt get everything worked out completely but you helped a TON. MAD props for a cool guy!

tell us whats going on, I fix more cars online without ever seeing them than I could taking the time to drive to them all.
We can at least maybe point you in the right direction!

well......after hours of tinkering tonight....we concluded that my surging idle was NOT based on IACV, not because my timing belt had jumped a tooth, not from obvious vacuum leakage etc... also concluded that Jacksons relocation of the PCV valve blows...MY ERROR, I should have made CERTAIN it was fine before installing everything, but now we can not get at it at all. Never had idle problems before the install, but who knows...it could be bad and we CAN NOT get at the biotch.
Also determined compression was approximately 195 across the board which relieved some of my fears. I am not detonating...at least not anymore. I NEED my timing set, but cannot do so with my idle hunting... I am probably missing a thing or two, but surging idle is my devil right now
valve adustment finished as well, helped with some of the noises I am certain

try pinching off the hose to the pcv valve with some needle nose pliers and see if it stops surging. If not its not your PCV valve! Did you spray a flammable spray like brake cleaner all over the vacuum hoses and manifold gaskets, or did you just look and listen for a leak?
One more thing, does your throttle body have a fast idle valve? If so the seat to the valve may be loose!

We tried pinching the PCV line to the valve, even it's nearly impossible to get at, but couldn't tell if it was acting right or not. You're almost required to remove the blower to change the PCV valve...it's really silly. He has newish vacuum lines I don't think he has a leak aside from the crankcase breather. We checked the IACV and purge valve...didn't mess with the fast idle...the PCV valve was next on the list.
the fast idle valve is quite often the culprit of an erratic idle.
The seat to the valve will loosen up over time and sometimes fall off the shaft... this WILL cause major idleing problems, If this car has one (it bolts to the bottom of the TB) check it! You bacically just remove the 2 bolts that hold the metal cover thats on the side of the valve and you will see a white seat around a plunger, see if its loose, it should not turn easy if its not! (By screwing it in, you will lower the idle)
By just looking at a hose, you will not usually see a potential problem, all it takes is a slight knick or tear to create a serious vacuum leak, so use a flammable spray and see if the idle changes any whatsoever!

check on pinching the line to the PCV....heard no change, so assumed we could leave t alone. Also, I sprayed throttlebody cleaner all over the damn place lol... no change. Listened alot, from underneath as well as up top and heard nothing obvious. we were baffled. TELL ME MORE about the fast idle thing tho. I am assumiong I have one (read in chiltons) and have heardthat this MAY cause the problem, but don't know what exactly I am looking for or where it may be.....
thanks...yeah we did alot of that mentioned...except the fast idle. I might not have one though, have to get back out there (have been gone at work then class all day) Maybe tomorrow I will know more but likely I am parting out the motor now...getting some decent offers on the blower. Thanks for input though. ]
Again, I did spray alot of flammable fluid around
