b18 non vtec would probably be the best swap for 1500.

I've heard a complete ZC swap done right will only run like 1000. assuming yuo can find a reasonable source on an engine. it'll mate right up to the tranny. you'll need a nicer clutch tho.

here's a page that gives a good outline and links to resources for just about any engine you could hope to sink into your CRX. I'm researching an engine swap too, so I figured I'd share the love.

I love my Si, and it's polenty quick arounda road course bone stock. feels capable but not great on the highway. but it's a honda. it'd be a crime to not want mroe out of it.

its a very old motor and they are getting even older...

buy a d16z6... its the 92-95 civic si/ex motor.

id choose this over the b18b because i believe it has alot of potential and is a very strong motor capable of alot

get it the motor. keep your current tranny. get a new clutch and upgrade the whole fuel system.

then save up... 1400 and u can get the greddy kit.

200whp on stock internals sounds like fun...

if u want more look into building the motor new bottom end (pistons rods etc) that stock block is so strong. turbo panda has had his unsleeved d16 with supra turbo pistons and b16 rods up to 22 psi!!! well over 300whp.

d16z6 has some great potential.. but even stock with just the greddy kit its a great bang for the buck. plus u can keep your current tranny so u dont need a full swap just the motor and ecu.

if you are interested here is a link with EVERYTHING u need to know about swapping in this motor

but if i got an ls....wouldn't it have even more potential? i understand the d16 is a really good motor...but are u guys suggesting this because of the cost or becuase u think its just all around better than the ls? my boy told me i can do a complete ls swap fo around 700. i want to get the best motor i can right now. do u guys still think i should go with the d16z6?

I think you need to do the research yourself and determine what YOU want to do. We can't tell you what to swap into you car. Look around and see what's available and take into account: price, availability, difficulty, and most importantly what your goal in the car is (is it a long term racer or just an in between put around?)

That's the only way to do it because not everyone can agree on the same thing and that's why not everyone has the same motor in their car. It's all different and it's all up to you.

if your going to be swapping the engine in yourself you could do a b16a for around that amount of money just have to look for the right place to get the engine i have seen them out there for as little as 1000

b18b cost so much more to mod overall. and the d16 will overall be much cheaper. to buy and to mod. it can have just as much potential. or even more. vtec heads can be great with the right tunning.

d16s are such great motors. the stock sleeves can withhold so much. id choose this motor if i were u.

after doin my b16 swap and having to spend the money im spending on it to make it as fast as I want, i would definitely go LS if i did it all over again. More torque, more displacement, and only a head, vtec solenoid, oil line and ecu away from VTEC and a VERY respectably fast car. i'm actually thinkin of just ditchin the b16 block and pickin up an LS block as we speak.

For $1500 you can't do LS AND turbo. For the matter fact it will be very hard already to do D16z6 with turbo for $1500. Everything would have to be used and hooked up prices.

how? there is so much more involved. i have many friends running ls turbos and they have over 4K into there motors.

d16z6 can be as cheap as 300. plus u can use your current tranny and u dont need the full swap.

d16z6 are so cheap. parts are much cheaper for d16s and he wont need to buy a mount kit. also he can run his current axles.

not to mention turbo kits for d series are much cheaper that the b series ones

if you're going to turbo go LS motor. That will probably be best.
