hey up guys my friend owns a 92 gsr b17, and he blew up the tranny. im wonderin if a tranny from a b16 or b18 would fit the b17 engine, or does he have to get the o.g. tranny?. thanx.

 

b16 or b18 tranny will work. tell him to get a type r tranny so he can get an LSD

For the price of a new/used one, that won't be as good, you can just rebuild the YS1.

 

i'm selling mine for $450 + shipping, new 3rd gear syncro, no grinds.

 

he'll need a cable tranny-get an old school b16 tranny-those go for pretty cheap.

 

tell him to stay away from LS tranny - he has to get gsr/b16 tranny - ls tranny long

 

How did u break your tranny?

 

it was not me it was my friend he was racing a mr2 turbo on the freeway. (downshifted from 5th to 4th....ouch) later on the street it gave out and gutted the gears. ATLEAST HE BEAT THE MR 2.

 

at least the mr2 didn't blow his tranny
