Default Gasket on comp housing...

hey guys,
My car was down for a while, and while the turbo was off I decided to polish the comp housing.
I went to put it back together today, and the gasket seems a little to big to fit in the groove in the comp housing. Everytime I almost get it in the grove a different section pops out.
Anyone have any advice?
I am talking about the little rubber ring gasket, just to clear things up. It is a turbonetics t3/t4.
Thanks,
josh
ps PLEASE HELP...I am trying to freeze the gasket right now:/ to see if it will shrink a bit, but the gasket is not deformed at all...and looks perfect...just a lil to big

was it left in oil? that can cause it to swell if it is just an o-ring. Get a new one if it is the wrong size now.
