Bent valves??? Help!!!
Yesterday ... i was driving in 3rd (at hight rpm) and when i was shifting into 4th I hear a noise as if i misshifted and the engine tugged roughly. I wasnt sure what happened if I dont think it made it into gear but when i kept driving ... all of my instrument lights went out and the oil light and abs light came on and the car lost power. As i continued to drive and make a sudden stop at a stop sign my car died out . It was really hard to start back up the motor was turning over but it didnt want to start...I gave it alot of gas and we were off again.. At this time the car is feeling very sluggish and when i would accelerate on the vehicle its taking a while for my engine to catch up .. Today i jump started my car ... (alternator must be out) and i drive it around the block and the car seems very sluggish does this mean i need a new alternator or is it worse ? Anyway when I down shift the car starts bogging out like it doesnt want to go im not sure whats up ?!!! Any way
symptoms:
- car will not start unless jump started
- drives very sluggish
- engine feels rough
any thing else i can do .. I know i need to check by doing a compression test but i want to be sure what the problems are first. Can anyone help ..please .. and also it the vavles are bent will I have to get new valves? how much does this usually cost i plan on changing the valves with a friend so no labor fees ~HELP

this same thing happened in my other integra, and i was worried too, but it ended up being jsut the alternator. if your valves were bent then your check engine light should come on, but then again when my alternator was going out my check engine light came on as well. but this was in a 1990 integra, so yours may not come on. you said u were in high rpms when u shifted, and it made a noise, did u hit the rev limiter when you shifted, because if so then you may have something to worry about, because that is definitly bad for the motor. when my alternator went out i knew it was bad about a week or so before it went out. im no expert, i'm just trying to help from my experiences.
was your car running rough as well when the alternator needed to be changed ? in the last few months or so my power has been going out such as alarm siren , stereo, clock, and horn im not sure if these symptoms are linked ??

Does your battery keep dying? </TD></TR></TABLE> na the battery is still good i just had it checked. Would the alternator going out cause it to run really slow?

CEL should come on i bent my valves - it died too, it sounds like it, maybe reset cpu by disconnecting - reconnecting - are you sure you didnt jump teeth ? Sometimes that will happen - check cam gears - my car did die like urs when i bent valve - do a compression test and the cpu - that will tell you at least if you lost compression - my compression when bent valve 220 200 140 50 - cant explain power outage though
im gonna go to the dealer tomorrow and get a full diagnostic so i can see whats up and go from there unless anyone else would have the slightest possibility what it would be thanks for ur help so far
