Questions about 4th GEN Prelude "Si-VTEC"
sup
me and my friend are arguing about this, i just want to see what u guys think. i say there IS a USDM prelude SI-VTEC, she says no there isnt, the only models there are is S, Si, and VTEC.. i dont think so.
i believe the 1993 and 1994 preludes came in an Si VTEC model, stock. she says its only the JDM models.
the Si-VTEC model is 190hp, weighs like 2900lbs and was even car and drivers car of the year according to this: Car and Driver: Prelude Si-VTEC
we've been arguing for 2 days!! someone give me some hard facts so i can end this!! so far she is wining.. she busted out her manual and says theres no such thing as a USDM Si-VTEC.. only jdm.. GRR!!

She is would be correct. There were 3/4 Models. The S which was SOHC and rated at 135hp. Then Si has the DOHC 160hp engine. The same engine was used in the Si 4WS and SE if I am correct. Then the last model was the VTEC which was the DOHC VTEC rated at 190hp.
Are you guys arguing about TERMINOLOGY? "S/Si/VTEC"? Or are you arguing about whether on not there actually WAS a VTEC edition 4G stock in the US?
Either way, the correct terminology would be VTEC, as opposed to Si-VTEC... and yes there WAS "VTEC" trim model available in the 4G, stock, after '92 (or was it after '93) along with bot the S and Si models...
Your question puzzles me... whatever, I'm sure you know what I'm saying, though!

The 93 model was called an Si-VTEC. 94 and on they dropped the Si part because it was confusing and just called it a VTEC.
If you see people online say "94 Si/VTEC" they usually mean they have an Si and swapped in a H22A.

93 was Si/VTEC and yes it had Si rims and pretty everything the same as an Si except the engine.
94-96 was VTEC straight up and got it's own rims and lots of other features.
In Canada it was alwasy called the SR-V

yup if you check this thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=549372 there was a si-vtec in 93. the 92 prelude in us did not have a vtec model but in 93 it did, the 92 si, 93 si, and 93si-vtec share the same rim design. in 94 the si part of "si-vtec" was dropped and the prelude also got a new rim design which was then shared between the si and the vtec model.

Even 94-96...the Si and VTEC Preludes had the same rims. They both had the sawblade rims. My friend at work has a 95 Si.
The VTEC Prelude never had it's own style rims.....at least here in the US.

The he bought them or swapped them the Si rims stayed the same all years.
FYI
4th gen VTEC crossover = 4900
5th gen VTEC crossover = 5200

thanks for the vtec info joel , yeah 92-93 si had different rims than 94-96 si, and the 93 si-vtec shared rims with the si, and the 94-96 ludes share rims with si and vtec. got to love the steelies on the S
There is NO such thing as "si-vtec" in the US. Its a VERY common mistake though. There are four modles and four models ONLY for 4th gens.
Prelude S (f22)
Prelude SI (h23)
Prelude SI 4WS (h23, '92 only)
Prelude VTEC (h22)
There is no such thing as a factory si-vtec in the US. No where on my car or in the manual does it say si-vtec. People can call their hybrids whatever they want.

AHAHAHA. YOU have the Si VTEC!!! I have a 1993 Car and Driver RIGHT HERE and it says the 1993 Prelude VTEC IS the Si VTEC. LOL
And you call yourself a Prelude enthusiast.
Oh, not only that....4WS was in production until 94.
