How to find and adjust the Cold Idle control valve?
In the pic.. im pointing at 2 things that i think could be the Cold idle control valve.... which one is it? How do i open and adjust it..? Im told there are 2 screws, i see none. Im also told that some people (EX) dont have that black box thing on top of the thing with the arrow on the left.....?
thanks
Sean
I have surging idle BTW- thats why im doing this. Im now told that the arrows below are poiting to the EGR valve and Fuel pressure regulator. WHere is the Cold Idle Control!!!??

it is the valve on the bottom of the throttle body assembly.
clean the egr and port for it before replacing... not always ness to replace and they are kinda pricey for egr's.
I have an ex and no black box.

so your saying its the gold thing in the left arrow? Or what? Im not replacing it... it just needs to be adjusted.
it should be on teh bottom of the throttle body and ahve a coolant line going into it and then out to the iacv on the back of the manifold.
i haave enver hearad of them being adjustable at all though since the only screws i have seen on them are the mounting bolts and the ones that hold the cap on the end of it.

unless he's talking about the idle air control valve, theres actually an allen head screw on the valve body. ive read somehwere about somebody actually tightening that screw up but ive never tried it myself.. and its the valve on the backside of the manifold with a plug

look up the bypass mod on accordinglydone.com
also the part you are refering to is called the FIV fast idle valve it cannot be adjusted it can simply be replaced or bypassed. The IAC idle air control is on the back of the intake manifold, the TB idler screw is on top of the TB and the canister purge selnoid is a black canister on the firewall attacted the the TB top via vacum hose.
here you go peeps.

yes ur right... he supposedly thought i had a 93.... after telling him twice it was a 94..... so..... what else could be doing this? I checked coolant, looks full. there is nothing in the engine bay that is disconnected... ive looked and looked and looked.
take the Fast Idle Control valve off the bottom of the throttle body
place a business card over the face of it and punch 3 holes in it for the bolts to go back through
put gasket sealer all over the card
put the assembly back on sealing the FIC off

FIC=FIV in case that confused anyone a thin business card may possibly not seal good as well as the card itself could get wet and tear...
you could just as easily remove the FIV/FIC reroute the coolant straight back to the IAC ( just get a two ft hose and cut accordingly ) then go to your local hardware store and get a hubcap/ plate cap this is what i used, the bypass cost me 1.24 when i was finished. ill try and find a picture of the cap i basically just took the TB off and took it the hardware store with me to find something that fit snug in the hole it been working for me for over a year now.
"Decorative Hub Cap Pushnut 5/16in I got it from Westlake Hardware or Ace Hardware and thier part number for it No. HPN - 49834 "
