Will *only* the Comptech airfilter fit in the Icebox?

Just wondering, cuz if possible I'd rather not use their foam filter (i'm thinking something cheaper should do). Anyone have any info on this? Thanks in advance!
Stock one fits fine. A friend Dynoed the stock filter vs. the foam and the foam lost 1 peak WHP.
But that could be that not all runs are going to be exactly the same anyway.
The only reason to get the foam is its re-useability...not for gains.

i made my own "icebox" and it turned out excellent! sure workmanship may not be excellent but the results were noticeable...HP? hell i don't know...
i had the stock filter in for a while and was searching for a K&N...finally found one...and just installed it yesterday...although u have to modify the old filter in order fit the K&N...
final note...K&N cost <$40 including shipping....and Comptech cost almost $70...the K&N is about 5" diameter & 5" long...p/n RU2820...

the foam filter is supposed to be very good! Real Time ITR and NSX use them! There is no way the stock filter is better than the foam!!!
and yes, it works fine with the stock rubber intake hose!

scooby, when you 'modified' the stock filter, did you cut off the filter element, and leave part of the metal mesh stuff from the inside to mount it on?
I did this and the metal mesh is glued to the black plastic, the plastic eventually broke, I cut off the black plastic a bit up and made a flat edge on it, if I get a chance this weekend I will take a pic and post it up, but it has been on there for about 40k miles and the KN hasn't come off yet

I just bought a used Comptech ITR Icebox with the filter because I planned on getting the Skunk2 intake manifold this summer, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. Will I be able to still use the Comptech Icebox for the ITR in my GSR? I have my factory rubber hose, and can get an ITR factory rubber hose if need be. I assumed that all of the mounting bolts wouldn't be a problem, but maybe some fitment issues with the rubber hoses. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

So the dimensions of the stock airbox and the icebox are pretty much the same? I'm having second thoughts about the foam filter since I might get a Spoon one for cheap (will the spoon one fit in the icebox? I'm guessing it should).
