for those who've ran pr3 pistons in a gsr
Just wanna know what had to be done to make these fit. Washers to make the pistons fit the rods and machining? What was your setup, numbers, and times. Thanks.
You shouldn't have to shim the small-end b/c the amount of side-to-side rocking is determined by the rod's big-end to crank counterweight clearance. You shouldn't have any problems with the piston piston area-to-rod small-end clearance since the pins aren't an offset design.
If the big-end side-to-side clearance is so much that it's allow the small-end to rub with the inside shoulders of the wrist pin area, then there's something really wrong.
Your part throttle response will improve and be more snappy. Gas mileage should theoretically increase.

Use .25mm OS and have the machine shop overbore/hone or hone it out to the piston-to-cylinder wall clearance recommended by the service manual (.0004" - .0016"). It's more of a personal preference for doing things, but it's good advice to keep things on the safer side of assumptions.
BTW, I have the P73-00 pistons [std bore]. I still run on 92 to 93 octane.
I don't know what else to say.

Would you consider the JDM ITR pistons a safer/better choice than PR3's in a GSR, or does it not really matter. I have a choice of either getting 00-P73's or PR3's...which should I pick?

i have JDM ITR pistons and rods that I was about to put in my integra. However I sold them to go for a more cost effective route of PR3s, stock rods, and ARP rod bolts.
I would just run .25mm O/S PR3s

Given that both sets are roughly the same price, I'd take the JDM ITR pistons over teh PR3 pistons b/c they net roughly the same compression ratio. The JDM ITR CR might be slightly higher b/c of a taller compression height.
I'd take the JDM ITR pistons for more quench and coated skirts if both PR3 and P73-00 piston sets were the same price.
