I installed a VAFC-2 in a 00 GSR. Need help with tuning.
The install went great. The GSR still runs strong. The only thing that I have had the courage to play with so far was the Vtec engagement and disengagement. Does anyone have some numbers that they could throw me? I don't know what the fuel correction curve should look like. I am currently stock except for an AEM V2. I just want to get the most out of this thing. There are no speed shops near me so I am on my own here.
Every car reacts different. There is no ONE exact point that works best for each car. The best scenario I can tell you is with cam gears. There is set setting for each car, its different with your power, powerband, and wants. Each car puts out a different amount of horsepower (don't matter what the factory says). Some cars are factory freaks, some are average, some have actually underperformed. It all depends on the condition of the motor, the way the car has been treated, etc. There are so many different things to look at is what I am tryin to tell you. There is no exact point anybody can give you. The best advice I can give you is the keep everything stock UNTIL you get to a dyno/tune. And if you can't make it, find someone that really knows what they are doing and attempt some *** tuning, but there are no guarantees. I say set your vtec at 4400 (stock gsr vtec engagement). Thats your safest bet and probably is the best place for power because you have basically zero mods. Honda/Acura sets vtec at the best point, why would you want to change it unless you have done some changes. You haven't done enough to actually change vtec engagement or your fuel.
i hope this helps. because you should learn to not mess around with the car unless you know exactly what your doing....unless you don't care about your car.
don't do anything....thats my suggestion, and should be everyone elses.

Pretty much anything that allows for any kind of adjustment, be it cam gears, fuel controller, VTEC controller, whatever, is going to require dyno tuning to get any kind of benefit out of it.

i would not mess with it until you get some dyno time. with only CAI, theres no point of even having that thing. when you get the basics( I/H/E) and some cams and cam gears, thats when them things become useful.
more than benefits, it is important that you don't touch the vafc cause you might mess up your motor pretty bad if you don't know what you're doing. after you get a couple more mods, it would benefit you to take a roadtrip to a speedshop that is proficient in dyno tuning.
