Want to get a bike.... R6 vs. CBR F4i
I read the sticky and I searched and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. I have never bought a street bike before and I am thinking about getting one now. I have ridden Dirtbikes for 3 years now and feel pretty confident on a bike. I was looking at two bikes in particular. I wanted the R6 mainly because I ride Yamha and I love them, but also because I heard it is the BEST 600cc bike on the market. But then I was drawn into the CBR F4i becuase I am a honda person. Which one do you guys reccommend for a FIRST bike. Preciate it!
Since I'm a Honda fan, I would say go for the F4i. They're easier to live with and (IMO) look better than the R6s. I tried riding my friend's R6 and it put a LOT of my weight on my wrists. The F4i is more comfortable, yet still very capable.
the f4i sits you up more and is slower and the chassis is not as responsive, if you want a honda 600 get the new 600RR, if you dont want a new bike, get the R6, best 6 for the year,
The R6 is much nicer looking IMO, but the F4i makes a great first bike if you already have a bit of experience. The R6 is more of an agressive ride than the F4i. The honda is comfortable and has less power to get in trouble with... Id say the honda is the bike of your choice.
The F4i never grew on me. I've always prefered the R6's looks over it. I've never rode the F4i, but from what I hear, it's a very comfortable ride.
I'm in a debate over a 600 myself (for a second bike). I was looking into a R6 vs. a 600RR. I got a chance to take each out for a spin numerous times. I've ridden both in street and canyons. What I came to learn for myself is that right out of the box (stock form), the R6 is more fun for the streets. It rides long wheelies off of a second gear clutch just like my 954 (it's actually easier to keep it steady in the air since it's not as torquey). And the power down low is much more responsive for zipping thru traffic (compared to 600RR). But in the canyons, the front end gets real light and twitchy. It's something I don't feel too comfortable with unless I had a damper. That's where the 600RR takes it. The handling is superb, and the forward weight distribution definately keeps the steering in check. The steering stiffens as speed increases (as if it had a damper), and it never gave me a sign of a twitch. I'm going with the 600RR since what I'm really looking for is a track/canyon bike.

dude.. you're 16.
i've only seen 2 teen riders in person in my whole life. and they were 18 and up. i can understand your motivation to ride a bike. because i want one too, but the truth is, our parents are just so damn careful. heh.. it works out in the long run.
mine won't even let me ride. possibly because my dad used to have a bike too.. in PAKISTAN. so he's REEEAL scared of me riding one (in the US..). he won't even let me have one when im 19. the only thing he'll let me do it ride in the dirt. dirt-biking. but that's about it. no street riding or supersports bikes for me. :*(
I guess you should just wait till you're 18 because maybe then they will let you

I went behind their backs with my own money, once I got my own place, and bought a bike. Not the best way, but in the end it all worked out (they've accepted it).
I wouldn't suggest doing it that way, though. You could try convincing your mom by listing the pros about having a motorcycle - easier commute, easy parking, fuel economy, etc. etc.
Honestly, I don't think money is ever an issue with parents. They're just worried about having to live past their childrens' lives.

saying it's slower is stupid. all 600's are pretty much the same speed. i raced my friends 01 r6 on my 01 f4i from a 2nd gear roll on and we were side by side the entire time.

Well said, it's all about the rider. On my stock F4i, I can pull on my friend's 900RR easily. I did the same thing on a 600RR and a 636 at Streets of Willow over the weekend. But another F4i handed me my ***.

I totally agree, you guys are making it seem like the F4i is so much slower than the R6 but in fact it's up there with all the 600cc bikes, it's all about personal preferance man, choose what you like and what you feel comfortable on, as for convincing you parents, try showing them that you are a responsible driver and then see if you can purchase a dirtbike or something small and show them that you can ride, goodluck...also get yourself a motorcycle license before you try and start riding.

I've been on both and I like the sitting position on the R6 better than the F4i and personally, the R6 rides a hell of a lot better too. Just my opinion. Good Luck! Ride the two or atleast sit on them at a dealership and see what you like.
*As for speed and which one is quicker, who cares, any bike with 600cc or higher is going to be fast enough.

ya i have an r6 and i'd still go with a f4i. r6 does look nice, but for stunts, stay away from yamaha. honda is the best and most durable for tricks, but for just cruising, an r6 is alright.
I was also debating whether to get a R6 or F4i when I was shopping for a bike. Went with the R6 because my friend gave me a decent deal. I like the more upright position on the F4i because I use my bike to ride to school but my friend rode both and said the R6 is more fun.
only way i got my parents to let me get one (got it before i turned 18, like, month before), was promising to take msf course and have my dad follow me around first some times and they got to choose the bike. i got slow old bike, but who the hell cares, riding is fun i'm not picky. next bike though i'm getting what i want with my own money so cant wait
I would say the R6 is the better choice, I am a motorcycle mechanic, and have worked and ridden both before purchasing one.

I have also ridden both and also a GSXR600 and a Ninja too, but the F4i was the most rider friendly. It can hang with the R6 and the GSXR but so much more comfortable through the turns.

Same story here. But mine never found out. It's all about moving out

I own an F4i and my friend has an r6. Honestly I like both and am torn between the positives and negatives of both. I do like the all blue r6's colors better than any other bikes. If its your first bike, you will not be able to immediately notice most of the minute differences between the bikes anyway.
