Should I turbo my GSR?
ive been seriously considering buying a turbo for my 98 gsr but im still a little cautious because i have never seen anyone do it before and am not quite sure what the effects would be. Could anyone tell me @ how much hp it would have and how it would fair in the 1/4? thanks for any help the u can give me
do u know how much hp the vtec gets from a turbo? ive been askin around but no1 seems to be really sure.
by the way... what would cause it to blow my engine?

Do a compression test to see what your numbers should turn out.....should be around 225-230 across. Each turbo is unique in there own way and depending on what stages your running. Just push about 8-9 psi on stock internals and go dyno your car. Thats just the best bet to know your own power.

Before you turbo your car I suggest ( saying all this from personal experience) you do a lot of research on turbo systems, and how they work, and how they will affect your motor. There is a good book by Corky Belle? on turbo systems. Good luck.
What kinda question is that,
of course!!! but you gotta swap the tranny to an ls (longer gears more room for turbo to open up) there after get dual ball bearing for that, these are two tips, good luck and follow up on it!!!!

no need for an ls tranny- gsr is fine
there is rev hard (personal fav), drag 3, max rev, full race, etc for turbo kits
about the vtec... my honda mechanic, gained 60 WHP going from his LS motor to LS/VTEC (b16 head) and topped @ 402whp.runs high 11's. hope this helps

maybe he's not refereing to VTEC itself. maybe he is saying that the vtec head will have better flow ect than not vtec. also, maybe he is specifically thinking about the cams and how the lobes are designed, not necesarilly VTEC.
im not sure.

Dont forget to get some good tunning time too.

how much money do you have?
I wouldnt do it if you are just getting by
turblows will show weakness in your engine/valvetrain
you have to be aware if you screw up something, you might need to get a new turbo or engine
turbo is cool for big power. but if are going to go turbo do it right, and to do it right is not cheap

Gsr is a great motor/tranny to boost. It already has the gsr tranny(great for a street car) Dont listen to the guy sayign to go with ls tranny. That myth was started in like 98
. On a typical turbo kit with basic fuel setup a gsr will make anywhere from 250-260whp, we have seen some 270's as well. The key to not blowing your **** up is to know what your doing, dont get boost happy with your boost controller, and tuning
most imnportant. Turbo has huge potential and you can mix and match parts of your choice. If you are a turbo noobie then research and learn the in's and outs before blowing your $ on wortless parts

i dont think you should turbo your car
. Hondas are at there best all motor. If you turbo the gsr you will bairly hear VTEC, and your motor will not last as long. All motor is the way to go. Turbo

If this is true, then you must also say a turbo does not add HP. The Way the turbines and piping are designed to compress the air is what is responsible. How much sense does that make? it's the same thing!

You will get more intelligent responses in the forced induction forum. Start there.
BTW, get the turbo. It will not be regretted when done right.
Bob-DC2's response was one to deeply consider if going the route of the Darkside.
