Which Honda Oil Filter? 15400-PR3, 15400-PM3 or 15400-PT7?
What the title said. Can we get 15400-PR3 Honda genuine filters in the States? I'm ready for my first oil change. Any insiders know the answer to this one?

this filter was purchased from my local dealer. it's 15400-PT7. i think if you want the H.A.M.P filter, the racing ones, you can purchase them from inlinefour. hope this helps.
Yellow Blur - thanks. See, I have that 15400-PT7 filter left over from my D16Y7 Civic. I think Acura uses same filters from everything. However, according to Best MOTORing video, typeR should use 15400-PR3 filter which has smaller elements. Also, I've seen H.A.M.P filters that they sell on inlinefour.com but it seems something complete different than 15400-PR3. Damn, choices, choices.
[Edit] After looking at inlinefour.com site, it seems that HAMP are indeed 15400-PR3 filters. Damn, they are charging almost 3x for it![/Edit]

Sean,
I think the Bosch filter will be just fine. You can get it at NOPI (about the only thing I would buy from them
).
If you must have a BLING! BLING! oil filter, I have a Power Enterprises MAG POWER (made by Denso) sitting in my garage.

sgT - I'm just trying to follow Honda's recommended practice... which recommends 15400-PR3 oil filter over 15400-PM3 (15400-PT7) filters.
Sam - 15400-PR3 seems to be the HAMP filter that http://www.ipsracing.com or http://www.inlinefour.com sell. But, it costs $12-$13 per filter. I dunno, that seems way too high for an oil filter. (1 HAMP filter = 3 regular filters which I can change at every 1000 miles of driving)
As far as I understand 15400-PR3 is larger in size (wider and taller) and it contains smaller filter elements for "racing" use over the regular 15400-PM3(JDM), which I think is 15400-PT7 in the US.
I really don't know... I'll probably experiement w/ 15400-PT7 (US recommended filter) w/ spoon magnetic plug. Then, I'll try out HAMP filter and see if I notice any difference in crappage after each oil change.
I know this is stupider (word?) than heck.
Shane - how does your bling bling filter been working for you? Are you currently using a magnetic plug? Thanks.

try wrapping an aluminum strap around the filter. That's what sp00m showed in the BM vdo. Helps to keep the filter from expanding under high pressure.
yoshi - who's afraid to see the spoon magnetic plug that was installed at the last oil change

which filter does the ITR come with from the showroom?

BTW - it was a gift, even I'm not stupid enough to buy a $25 oil filter

Hamp products are cheap versions of genuine Honda products!!!!
Check out this link? http://www.honda.co.th/HCT/update_0900_28.htm
The filter from the factory is made in Japan and larger than the filters they sell
in the states I am trying to get a P/N for it.

Hey zmeli:
long time no see. Glad you're still around
wow, this is some suprising news
"HAMP have been designed to save maintenance costs for Honda car owners, yet possess almost the same quality and reliability as genuine Honda parts. Before creating parts specifically for maintenance use, Honda meticulously researched into the working conditions as well as the overall condition of each particular model. With results in hand, Honda adjusts the materials and manufacturing sources to make HAMP cost 50-70% less than the current genuine Honda parts."
