Default i got to drive an H22 for my first time!!!

Holy ****. My friend has a 97 prelude VTEC and let me drive it today. I AM IN LOVE. oh man 5G comes around and VTEC kicks in. I seriousley got a raging mega huge boner. God it sounds and feels ******* awesome when it kicks in. 1 hour ago i was thinking "2G for a new engine is a lot.... should i put that much into the car". YES.. I SHOULD. I am sold. I need VTEC.
Just wanted to know how much you all spent total on the motor and install.... im gonna go break into my piggy bank and see how much more $$$ i need. Im gonna work my *** off untill i get that engine!

I have never driven a VTEC car before. I drove my mom's 2000 TL but i didn't notice the VTEC

I am really impressed with the H23...I REALLY want to drive a 4th Gen VTEC.

Well, I also drive a TL and its barely noticeable in the premium(225hp) version.
I used to pimp the TLS(260hp) and it was quite noticeable.
Just wait until the new 2004 A-Spec is stalking the streets with 270hp on tap rolling on 18's with a huge Brembo kit. Should be a high 13-low 14 car all day long!
And beware of CLS 6spd, they are pretty quick!

well...vtec is extremely overrated. not to say thats its not cool, especially on the H22.

it still puts a nice grin on my face (i cant wait to feel it with my SMSP/ 2.5" exhaust), but dont get your hopes up too much.

I've owned swapped Civics before and just sold my Integra not too long ago. I picked up a 93 Prelude VTEC and I was sold the first time I drove it. The pull on the H22 motor is incredible!

The problem with a TL-S or CL-S or any SOHC VTEC is that it's single cam. DOHC VTEC is where you 'feel' and hear the power.

The TYPE-S sohcVTEC hits pretty damn hard.
I drove a CLS with an intake and VTEC was very noticeable. That car felt like a big Lude with all the tire melting low-end TQ we don't have!
I think the Tuner market for the CLS is going to be huge once prices come down on them!
2001's are still high teens-low 20's......
A Local shop has one running high 12's with NNNAAAWWWSSS!

Well to answer your question in your first post, i spent somewhere around $5,000 on my swap.

JDM Front Clip $2,400 + 500 shipping

Remove Both Engines (h23 in my car, and h22 in clip) and Install $1000

Then all the miscellaneous things like new clutch, Master Clutch Cylinder (JDM one doesnt fit), have the exhaust rewelded to fit the h22 downpipe, others but i forgot about $700

Good Luck on the swap.

When my friend needed a new car he was set on a dsm, I convieced to test drive this gen4 prelude vtec that the dealer had just got. Me nor him had never driven or even rode in a dohc vtec car before. The h22a really has a nice pull. He ended up buying the car and I ened up swaping a b18c1 into my 3rd gen integra. The h22a seems to pull way harder through the power band over my b18c1. but side by side we run pretty even, but the h22a has a much better feels to it imo.
