Default Backup remote with Viper 790

It's a very nice alarm system, but it comes with NO backup remote. And the remote it comes with is the lcd display, that if you want to purchase a backup will cost you $150.00

Alarm shops are telling me two different things though. That the $55.00, no-lcd remotes can be programmed to work, and some say they cannot.

I'm looking if anyone can verify either. I'm not looking for all the functions, just something that locks, and unlocks my car in case something happens to my remote, thanks

You would need the new 1 way remote that I think might still be backordered since I haven't received mine yet. You cannot just use a regular remote for the 2 way systems.

*YOU CAN NOT AS OF THIS POINT PROGRAM A REGULAR REMOTE TO THE 790 SYSTEM*... or this is what I was told by DEI themselves about 3 months ago. They *might* have come out with a regular replacement since then, but from what their tech guys have told me you can't.

Might be worth a call or email to them to find out if this has been fixed since then

ill back that up 100% because i called dei myself and they told me that.. ill give them a call this week and ask them about the new alarm system remotes that just came out.. they are smaller than previous and have xv ie 850xv, and 350xv on the name of the alarm so it might work!

The model number for the 1 way remote is 472v. That is the remote you need to just do one way. No lcd display. New Viper 791 remote model number is 479v.

my guess based off of:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">The model number for the 1 way remote is 472v. That is the remote you need to just do one way. No lcd display. New Viper 791 remote model number is 479v.</TD></TR></TABLE>

would be the 472V. THe 690 and 790 should use the same 1 way remote.
