Respray oem lip - - Do I need a flexible primer
I have a lip that I need to paint from blue to red, it is oem. Can I just use any primer for it (I have some Varsity Automotive Sandable Primer I picked up from Pep Boys) or do I need some flexible primer. If I do, what kind and where can I get it in a spray can?
My silver lip used to be EBP.
I sanded the whole lip down (300 then 600 i think) and cleaned by scrubbing it with some strong cleaner (can't remember what I used, I also had bondo'd some scrape spots. Then I used "Omega Automotive Sanding Primer". Couple coats of that, then the multiple thin coats of "plasi-kote import color" touch up paint spray. I bought both at my local Pep Boys.
For painting, I put my lip on sawhorses which allowed me to spray evenly over the entire surface. Took maybe 1 1/2 hrs including drying times.

well I did it, don't have any pics yet but it looks great.
When I started to spray the clear coat I freaked out, because it looked like it was disolving the red and making the primer visible - but it dries clear
