Is it worth buying the ITR ecu to replace the Gs-r ecu?
Uhm, you have a GSR i assume. The two stage manifold on the GSR is different from the statics IM of the Type R and the Type R ecu won't recognize the fact that there are secondaries-- stick with the GSR ECU

um i would have to say no, i think that the addition of some chips may yield similar results. also stand alone like hondata would be the ultimate setup if you are concerned with ecu's.

ive had both in the same car back to back runs and the ITR ECU did nothing at all to effect ET. my setup at the time 99 EX, 98 GSR ECU, ITR cams, DC 4-2-1 header, 3" generic intake, muffler shop bent exhaust 2.25" and VAFC.

If your friend is selling it, see if you can swap them and see how it feels before you decide to buy it. I'd recommend doing some baseline runs on the dyno and seeing if the R ecu will net you any gains. That is, if a dyno is cheap and easy to get to.

it says above considering he has itr cams and skunk2 manifold. so im taking it that he doesn't have the stock gsr cams anymore
also, I did some further searching on the topic. your going to have to try the ecu out. each car yields different results and the ecu may not help you at all. it may help you. you just need to hit a dyno and find out to see if its worth the money.

my friend kinda had the same mods on his gsr.........but he didnt notice much w/ the itr ecu, now he's running one of my custom all motor chipped p28 ecu's.... and he's happy now.........if your happy with the itr ecu, then keep it, if not, then look into getting a chipped p28 or hondata.
